It's still in camouflage mode. We will see the real thing soon. It does need to be a bit wider but who knows. That could change when the true form is reveal.

You and I, and this board, for the most part, are in the minority. If I was in the market for an X5M but saw they put a water injected S58 in the X3M, I'd get that instead. No questions asked lol...

No questions asked indeed. BMW should just juice the S58 to 480HP+ in the X3M and not mess around. Its not like it will out perform the upcoming X5M at 600HP+. Hierarchy would be remain intact and both could arguably be best in class. IMO, 425HP in the X3M is not going to cut it and would love to see the M3 get the 500HP it deserves.

If the G80 does come in AWD I wouldn't mind it at all, the extra weight worries me but that's it. I come from driving an Evolution for 6 years and it handled like a go cart.

I think this one will be a serious upgrade to the F80, w new GTR killing potential without mods. Interior will rival that of Audi, acceleration that of GT2 RS, lite as a lotus, traction of ken blocks hoonicorn, and a snail trail maker.

Hmmm...my stock 2015 F80 looks more aggressive from front and rear views. I will reserve my judgement when camouflage has been removed...I can't believe that the G80 is almost here. Engine upgrade with increase whp, but with auto tranny.
I will miss the DCT...if it is as bulletproof as my F80, I may jump on the first year release.

How about appreciating the viewpoint of the enthusiast, and incorporating that appreciation into future products? Hint - slapping M badges on cars and reusing engines for multiple generations doesn’t really inspire people. We have many, many choices you know.

But you must admit that there are rants for no apparent reason against BMW whilst praise for their competitors even when they do the exact same thing but escape the vitriol preferably unleashed at BMW. In regards to the M Badge, do you mean M Sport and M Performance? M Sport packet started in the late nineties and offered customers a more performance orientated appearance . The trend for M Sport is successful that today each series run about 60-70 % of unit sales are the M Sport Packet. M Performance was introduced for two reasons. To identify the subjects BMW M. Considered mainly taboo such as Diesel. And many EU countries have major tax penalties on high performance cars. So vehicles like the M550d and X5 50d were introduced to offer greater efficiency, high performance but without being taxed off the road. Again another successful introduction. The M Performance brand is now a fully entitled sub-line under BMW M. Which still maintains the taboo subjects as well as a dedicated and covered Aftermarket accessory line. M Performance line contains around 10 vehicles including a few that will not be offered in the USA. M.Performance has expanded to now be the flagship of the series allowing BMW M. To be more individual in its status and positioning. From 2018 M Performance will introduce more models such as the X2M135, X4M40i,M340i,M340d,X5M50i,X5M50d,M850i. And eventually an X7M50i,X7M50d and X7M60i In which some of those will be US bound. But not all. Each element of every M car is unique despite it using the same drivetrain, componentry, technology etc. It is disappointing to be singled out for this when other manufacturers are using the same philosophy. BMW as a reason implement for costs so that savings can be passed on to offer elements such as a CFRP roof as a first for an M3 or an M5 to especially utilise development to effectively reduce weight within certain vehicles which is what the enthusiast looks for. If you look at the M4 as an example you can see from the standard,to the GTS to the CS it's a strong evolution that introduces new ideas in weight and technology. Yet why do enthusiasts not give the engineers credit? These are ideas rolled out that will progress and eventually see within the next line of M cars. Look at the M5 xDrive yet it managed to meet the outgoing M5 without getting too heavy, despite a new drivetrain that will be featured in other M cars. Everything might seem the same and rehashed to some but it's very much applied to be different. Next years X3M might give hints of the G80 M3... But they won't be the same.

The M performance line is a joke - I can say this because I had one. It was the worst BMW I’ve ever had (currently on #7). It’s also a blatant copycat of the Audi S line - there’s even some BMW issued literature that shows the lack of originality by referencing the S line at Audi. This is innovation? I used to drive BMW because it was different. It represented a company who stuck to its respective strengths and had a loyal following as a result. You say why aren’t other manufacturers derided by reusing things over and over...well maybe that’s one of the ways BMW used to be distinguishable in the car industry. By coming up with new and better ideas for each generation. Not just recycling old ones....like the same engine for multiple generations of the M5, and similar plans for the next M2/3/4. It’s just not very inspiring. I will continue to vote with my wallet, so we will see how you guys do in the future on that front.
