Or move to a state that isn't exactly worried about that sort of thing.
I hate the thought of hacking up a car for no reason.

It's sad to see a once iconic and proudly displayed design element of a BMW, now turned into black it out and try to hide it type of deal.
There's absolutely no reason for that nose to protrude that much and be that big and then have active slates behind it to close it off. It's a failed design and then they started to make compromises just to stick to the design. |

Its not just the grill that this car has as a design problem, but the side profile, rear end, just so many aspects could be better.

US vs Germany / Europe
In the end, BMW is still a German make. Cool that some of the US states do not require front license plates (very lucky!). But IMHO, an automaker should FIRST focus on their own domestic market. Germany has a normal sized number plate - and on the new 4er it looks horrible! Even here in Switzerland I cannot imagine that it will look good with our small front license plates.
It would be something different if, just imagine, Germany would not require front license plates. Then, the owners in other countries that require those front license plates are just unlucky. But at least BMW could say, well here we do not need them and that's why we designed it like this. But yeah this is not the case and therefore I just cannot understand what they were thinking. Did they just looked at the car without the plates??? |

Does front license plate blocks the front air vents or this space was designed to hold the license plate?

Here in Illinois front plates are required but I've never had one on any of my vehicles. I've never been bothered by police about it.

The new grill is here to stay so there isn't anything one can do (short of buying an entirely different vehicle).
I currently use US Mill Works tow hook front license plate mount. Did anyone recently order anything from US Mill Works? Still in business? |

What's sad are the (supposed) comical comments. Geezus, get it over already. Don't buy the damn thing, assuming of course if all of you were actually in the market for a 4 series.
