One of the problems I see with that is that when it's raining it's going to get water droplets on it and distort the view. I had the same problem on my last Jeep Cherokee before they updated it and put it up under the license plate area. It's a bad design in my experience.

The best option would’ve been like how it is on VW hatchbacks. It’s hidden when not in use under the VW logo. Flips out when put into reverse gear or when turned on.

This camera placement will experience several issues related to dust and rain. Hopefully this won't become a trend on other models.

I know its a little detail but something about it really bothers my OCD

should do it like Merc or VW where the camera stays hidden inside so it doesn't get dirty/fogged up.

My old VW CC had that feature and it was great especially in the northeast. Not once the whole time I had that car did I need to clean the camera lense. On my G20 I had to clean it every time I drive through snow/salt in the winter.
