Agreed. Though if you have an android phone, the lx works as well.
Unicarscan is another recommended adapter that supports all modules.

Anyone has experience with ModBMW Wi-Fi Enet adapter?

https://modbmw.com/shop/wifi-enet/

Thinking of coding with Bimmercode and has an iPhone. I am under the impression from the forum the Wi-Fi adapters are faster than Bluetooth ones.

ModBMW works for G series cars with both Apple and android. And yes. WiFi is significantly faster than Bluetooth. I had the vgate wifi adapter and it was very fast compared to the obdlink lx Bluetooth one which gets on my nerves because of how slow it is.

Honestly, I just use an ENET cable, and a USB-C to ethernet adaptor on my iPad - works great, can code every module, and was under $20.
Plus no risk of bluetooth connectivity drops during coding

I’m beating myself up for not going that route!

Yes, and I have a USB adapter for the laptop and a lightning adapter for the iPad/iPhone. No way I'm risking WiFi or Bluetooth while hacking my cars computer.

I would go this route as well. I have the OBD Link MX+.
It is suitable for use with Bimmercode (a bit slow to connect on some modules).

I can't use the MX+ for xHP Flashtool or BM3, unfortunately. The apps don't connect or detect the MX+ on my phone.

I haven't looked into that issue yet but I do recommend you go the wired route to ensure a steady connection for coding and allow yourself the option to do flashing in the future. I would opt to use a laptop with the ENET cable.

I have an ELM 327 Bluetooth ODBII adapter. Would this work with Esys? Really don't mind if it's slow...happy to wait if it works.

I believe esys needs a wired connection? Like an enet cable

Hi, guys!
ESYS works with modBMW WIFI ENET adapter without any trouble.
ESYS needs ETHERNET connection between the computer and the car and that's exactly what WIFI ENET adapters provide - wireless ethernet.

ELM327 (no matter bluetooth or WI-FI version) is not a compatible with ESYS, since it's using DCAN connection to the car. ELM327, as well as almost all of the bluetooth/wifi dongles, like MX, UniCarScan, vGate and many others, connects to the car through CAN-BUS communication technology, they don't use the high speed ETHERNET (LAN) connectivity which came with F and G series.

Only WIFI ENET adapters (modBMW WIFI ENET, MHD BLACK, uniCHIP) are using the right way to connect to the car. That's why they support times faster speed, compared to the universal adapters like ELM327, Unicarscan, Veepeak, Vgate and etc.

What phone do you use? If you use a Samsung Galaxy or iPhone, I'd recommend getting a wired connection (enet cable and enet to usb c/lightning adapter). Extremely fast and cheap too. And you can access all modules.

I have an OBDLink LX. Works fine and you can access all modules. OBDLink CX is made specifically for Bimmercode.

All OBDLink adapters can access all modules.
