Front fog lights

There aren't any.

Is there a reason for this? Are the LED lights so clever that they know when it's foggy and adapt accordingly?

Or do we not have fog anymore? Not that I remember what it is like to drive of course - it's been a while...

Confusingly yours.

Whaaattt?

Like proper fog lights somewhere up front?

I'm not sure I remember seeing such a thing.

Where would they be then?

The M340i doesn't have fog lights. My understanding is the space is used for extra cooling.

No idea if the adaptive LEDs make up for them.

All other variants 330i etc have fog lights as they don't need the extra cooling.

Makes sense, thanks.

I thought for a moment I had been robbed! And if I had, they stole my front fog light switch too (?)

I'll remember to drive fast in heavy fog to get best use of the extra cooling

My 330i has laser lights and front fog lights.

And doesn't have great big holes round the exhaust tips.

Superior to the 340i in every way.....

You can tell the M340i from the lesser models by the lack of foglights!!!!!

My dealer salesman told me that!!!!!

I'll take your word for it - I have yet to see a 340 on the road!

Damnit I've only just realised that now, bit of a kick in the teeth seeing that is the top of the range model.

Had I known you had a 340 I'd have known they don't have fog lights, but I can see other people have already pointed that out. Does seem odd to me for any car not to have fog lights, they're a safety feature at the end of the day so seems a bit daft for it not to be law that all cars have them. Saying that, my A4 had them in the main headlight cluster which just seemed a bit pointless as you want them low down. Nice car though!

A nice feature on the G20 is that if you have the flashy instrument panel option you get a written message to tell you when the front fog lights are on.

Unless you have a 340 of course.....

So basically a 340 Touring is even worse than a 340 saloon when compared to the 330......l

When I collected my M340i the salesman told me the car had front fog lights, when I asked him where they are he said he "thought" they were integrated with the head lights, great product knowledge!! Although I will admit despite driving all of 60 miles since collection a month ago I haven't encountered any fog!

Ha ha! The dehumidifier seems to be doing a good job of keeping the fog out of my garage - where the car hasn't moved from for around 3 weeks.

Who needs fog lights anyway? I'm probably saving weight.

He must have moved from a VW dealer and still thinks he is selling a Mk4 golf!

Isn't it funny that the performance versions don't get front fogs (m140 is the same) but lesser spec'd ones do. Doesn't seem that long ago that performance versions did and lesser spec'd didn't. Think of every hot hatch in the 90s for example. Even the fiesta rs turbo had 4 bloody fogs at the front to show it was quicker than the xr2i!

My last car was a Peugeot 308 GT. The GT and GTi came with no front fogs as it also needed a bigger air intake scoop for the turbo. Its the only way to tell them apart from lower powered GT Line types...So I have had to live without fog lights for last 4 or so years. So glad to have them back again...

So I'm now of the opinion that extra lights up front are for lesser models that feel the need to compensate for their inadequacy.

Of course, this is not true for all cars...

All the proper M cars don't have front fogs as well. The new M3 won't have them.
