And see also here at 6:30. Again a 320i with Sport Plus and sporty exhaust sound. I’d like to figure out how to enable this.

In reality though, would you really want a 320 or 330i to make all sorts of loud exhaust noise? Exhaust noise is one of those things I love on some cars and find annoying on others. For example if a GT350, or some other muscle or sports car drives by, I love the exhaust note. When I hear a loud exhaust, and realize it's a mazda 3 or a civic, or something like that, I feel tempted to toss something at it.

I'm not suggesting that a 320i is like a civic or whatever, it's not, but it shouldn't have a loud, crackling exhaust note either.

When start/stop is operational (many times it is not due to my short commute), there are no issued; but when S/S is disabled I do get occasional jerking while on hold like engine is out of balance

Again, apologies for being off topic

The topic is more about it is not fair from BMW side that in some cars with same specification such "feature" is enabled and in our not. Sometimes I would like to use sport+ if there is a possibility.

Btw, The car and drive feeling is for me and I do not care if somebody do not like exhaust crackling in my poor 320i or even if I will paint my BMW pink with fluffy accessories inside . This is my car and I can do with it whatever I want. Nothing personal, just saying

If it’s of any console, the 330i in America doesn’t come with sport+ either.

While in Europe: pops, burbles and Sport Plus in 330i.

So there must be a way to code those in somehow...

Ok so what I learned today is that Sport+ is linked to adaptive suspension. So normal suspension versions like mine does not have Sport+.

However there should be exhaust burbles at every 320i but engine management only enables that after a certain milage.

Product genius told me!

It does have burbles. My 330i has it. Just no sport+ mode.

I hear you. I wasn't saying that the in response to the 320i specifically. To be honest, I think loud 335i, 340i, 440i, and m340i are kind of pointless too. I guess I just don't see the 3 or 4 series as loud cars.

But yes, you're right in that it's just my opinion, and in this case my opinion doesn't address the question being asked so I apologize.

Active Sound is not linked to the overrun (burbles), and can be coded off in most cars. Sport+ is unique to cars with the adaptive suspension, which here in the US is also a part of the Track Handling Package. Sport+ can be enabled on most cars through coding. My 330i did not come with Sport+ and I have successfully enabled it. Take a look here for the two part coding change: https://github.com/packetpilot/bmw-f...s/jokinawa.xml

Contrary to another post in this thread, Sport+ does not modify the stability program and a press of the DSC button is still required. The car will say TRACTION or DSC OFF in the cluster when the stability program is modified. Instead, throttle response, shift aggressiveness, gear holding, and downshifting are all far more aggressive in Sport+ than they are in Sport. Watch out for that fuel economy though! I have not noticed a change in Active Sound volume nor in the quantity/volume of overrun since enabling Sport+.

Finally, cars with an exhaust valve (visible in the video posted above as a sort of black and silver box on the tail pipe) will sound louder from the exterior when in Sport or Sport+. This is standard on the 330i and 340i, but I am not sure about the 320i. If the 320i has dual tail pipes (whether they are next to one another or on opposite sides of the bumper) then it may very well have an exhaust valve.

Now I regret that I didn't order car with adaptive suspension

Hello to every one, my first post.

Well until July '19 all the BMW G20 320i and 330i that were produced in Munich (I live in Spain, so I don´t know where yours may be produced) have the same components, so all of them were powered with the B48B20B. This means that they also have Sport Plus and this exhaust with the manifold that gives the GOOD sound. And I also think, but not sure, they have active sound on central speakers.

So after July ´19 as production date this change, and cars were equiped with the B48B20A same on F30.

Mine has the B48B20B and when you turn it off the manifold opens and in the next star you can hear the pops and burbles as you say ;-)

Does that apply to the 330e as well?

I know, sorry about that, bmw never should leave to try 20i as demo cars, because most people will receive other engine, when I ordered mine didn’t know that detail, but I was lucky. Neither in the dealer known anything about that. And as u can guess it’s quite easy to upgrade to 30i power with original software 😉.

In the Z4 I’ve heard the 20i is the B20B spec if some one is interested. But check this before with VIN

So decided to pay bit more attention to this and apparently my 320i has a sports plus mode.
Clicking on Sports button on consoles, menu pops up with options of
Sport / sport plus / sport individual.

Sport plus, does enhance the engine sound, but only tried it in the driveway. Ill give it another go tomorrow.

Do you know if the rule applies to 330i as well? Did he tell you at what mileage, more or less?

To be honest I don’t really trust that opinion :/ It gave me hope when I first read it, but... the more I thought about it the more I doubted. I’m at over 2000km already and nothing really changed. It’s as silent as it was.

I even turn off the radio to hear at least something, but it’s definitely not a juicy sport exhaust I dreamed I will listen to...

Have no idea. But easy to know use your VIN in a web to see all the equipment and base model.

I have a 330i (NL) for about 1,5 week (1250km) and I do have the Sport+ option.
But I still don’t have the burbles sound 😞.

I test drove the 320i and 330i from the dealer and both did have the burbles.
My dealer also told me this will come after a certain mileage.
Do you already have the burbles sound now?
