I think it may actually be true, as my 330i with sport+ is still quiet after 2300km. It puzzles me as well

Have anyone tried to disconnect vacuum connection on the right back side of exhaust which opens/closes flaps in exhaust. This flaps are in exhaust because of loudness and environment things...

I have done this on my e90 330i and it gave a little bit more deep sound, but not as good as M Performance muffler

I think there is not yet available M Performance muffler for G20 320i.

Hi guys. Has anyone figured a way to get the pops and burbles back? I had them on my loaner 3 months ago but took delivery of a new 330i m sport on the 10 of December. It doesnt seem to have the same sound.

In the Z4 I’ve heard the 20i is the B20B spec if some one is interested. But check this before with VIN
Speaking about upgrading to 30i power... as a 320i owner, if I wanted to do that after my warranty expires, would that be totally safe to map it to the 250 up range?

Thought I would get it with DTE piggyback to 220 HP / 350 Nm range now and then go all the way to 30i after 2-3 years.

As safe as the 30i is, always that you only use the 30i soft from BMW and someone really qualificated to do it of course.

Pops and burbles stopped after October build, annoying because my 330i loaner made crazy pops and burbles yet my 330i only does a few on startup.

Hey, I am new to the forum but also wondered if anyone has managed to get there exhaust pops back?

I had a BMW 320i M-Sport (July 2019 build) as a lease and it made lots of pops whilst in sport and sport+ mode.

I have just purchased a BMW 320i M-Sport (Dec 2019 build) but really disappointing that sport+ mode has gone and the exhaust makes no pops at all in sport mode.

Thanks

Let me know if you find out something from your dealer.

I have an M-sport 320i with sport transmission as well, does not come with Sport+ mode... Any clue whether Sport+ is available in a different package? Tried to find in the option list as I could recall it as an option; but can only find "4U2 Driving Experience Control with ECO PRO / Comfort / Sport modus" (as standard in NL).
You can code it go to diy coding forum you'll see the topic!

I might have missed something here....my understanding is that the 'pops and burbles' are the result of a valve opening somewhere near the rear end of the exhaust system. So if the valve isn't fitted it can't be 'coded'.

Again I stand to be corrected, the valve can be disabled by disconnecting the wiring that runs into the valve. I am pretty sure there was a post on here somewhere where somebody asked what the cable hanging down at the back of a G20'was and the answer was 'disconnected wiring from exhaust valve poppy burble thing' or similar.

And our 330is can be coded to have sport plus. And it works too. It’s better than sport/sport individual.

Gear shifts are snappier. The exhaust pops and bangs more, especially on downshifts. Throttle response feels slightly better.

And yes. Done via bimmercode. There’s a thread in the coding section on how to do it.

On our F30, I was under the impression that all "sport+" does does differently than "sport" is to make stability control less aggressive. Is that different for the G20?

Apparently yes. It is different in the G20. Traction does not get turned off even in sport plus. Stability control is the same in sport and sport plus.

I don’t think a video can catch what I’m trying to say. The gear shifts feel harsh (in a good way) compared to the smooth shifts in sport mode. It also hold onto revs longer in sport mode. And the exhaust pops can be heard in the car but I’m not sure a cell phone video can catch it. I’ll try tomorrow or whenever I take it out next but no promises

All you need is the full app and obdlink dongle. I have the lx which works fine. I believe some of the cheaper dongles don’t let you code BDC. If you’re on an iPhone, you can use an enet cable and USB adapter for the phone. You’ll also need to be a beta tester which isn’t difficult to become. Mail Stephan and he’ll send you the test flight app. For Android, google play has an option to let you become a beta tester.

https://bimmercode.app/adapters/ has a list of adapters that will work for you.

We have fog lights and privacy glass in the UK as well

One thing we don't have is the awful front and rear side markers on US spec cars - maybe it's just that I'm not used to,seeing the over here...but they always look awful to me on US cars.
