Octane booster vs Ethanol MIX
Does anyone have experience with adding an octane booster to the JB4 / JB+? Can this be compared with the
ethanol mix. |

I don't have any experience personally but from what I've read online, octane booster does provide nice HP gains but can clog up your 02 sensors, catalytic converter etc. I don't think the same applies to ethanol mix but can't say for certain.

Octane boosters only true function is to mitigate knock to advance timing. And it’s questionable if that even works. I’ve tried some very expensive octane boosters when I was pushing into higher power territories to make sure I would get any knock just to test the tune out. The logs were often equal on timing between straight 91 to 91 with booster and a final octane rating of 100-101. Sometime a little better. But never by and more than 2-3 degrees, max.
That said, for basic stuff, there’s nothing like a good old fashioned e85 mix. |
