Exactly, how will it look on a white vehicle lol. Maybe because they want people to buy dark colors so people will not notice that big ugly grill (blends in more).

Am I the only one who thinks this is tacky? When I see the new Merc's with that stupid option, I immediately assume the person is a badge whore and a chach. It just screams "look at me with my fancy badge." I really hope that backlit emblems dont become the norm.

It will probably only be a few days before someone sells copies of them on eBay and of course people will buy them and put them on their cars and within a couple of years BMW will put them on as well. It will make no sense from a branding point of view to have two logos.

What do you think of the new BMW emblem?

Not sure if it's a repost, but what do you think of the new emblem?

New BMW emblem!

Apparently BMW announced a new emblem.
Will it be on the M2CS?

From BMW BLOG:
With every new generation of customers, BMW is reshaping their identity. This thought process started over 100 years ago and it continues in 2020 with a new chapter in their book. In a recent call with Jens Thiemer, Senior Vice President BMW Customer Brand, we learned about some exciting changes in the identify of the Bavarian brand.

For starters, the iconic BMW roundel gets a new and fresh design. According to Thiemer, BMW has to adapt to a new customer base, a younger generation of buyers who are digitally natives.

“The new logo and brand design symbolizes the importance and relevance of the brand for mobility and the joy of driving in the future,” Thiemer told us.

The new BMW logo retains the same shape, but its within this shape that the design takes a new approach. The middle still has the blue and white colors of the Bavarian state. The font has also been shaped up differently. The outer ring now has a flat design in white, while some gradients fill the rest of the logo.

The company’s sub-brands – BMW i and BMW M – are also getting their own new logos. The ///M badge is now flat, a 2D interpretation of “The Most Powerful Letter In The World”.

So far, no plans to have the new logo on cars. It mainly is for communication purposes (online and offline).

I like the revised roundel and how it shows some of the cars paint color under it.

That said this quote scares the crap out of me..."BMW has to adapt to a new customer base, a younger generation of buyers who are digitally natives."

I read that as "we're going to break things that no one complained about, change things to a worse design for the sake of change and overall trying so hard to be different that we lose our way."

They should just use this new logo on their hybrid line-up, because ultimately, its in that segment that they need to innovate to gain the market share of the new young generation

This logo on the new BMW M3? That's how the young generation discards you as a brand, and as a company you only feel the after effects a decade later, when the older generation is phased out and the new generation hasn't grown up caring for the brand

Sad but true. Most people buy Bmw because it a status symbol and cool. They don't buy it for the drive and handling, they buy it for the luxury features and prestige factor. Only <10% (too optimistic?) of buyers buy it for the driving dynamics and characteristics. There is a sea on BMWs around me, and most driver don't look like they are enjoying the drive, it's a luxury appliance to them. BMW has to cater to this mass market, that's where they make the sales.

I took it as the same way. I feel like they might lose touch of who they are. I myself bout a BMW because of the way they did things in the past. The E46 was the first BMW i ever drove and fell in love instantly. My parents 2009 328i gave me the comfort and driving experience of a modern car i would expect from a company like BMW and my M2 Competition continues that tradition with the raw driving experience i expect from a modern M car.

I really hope they stick to their roots while modernizing what is needed without sacraficing what makes them so great.
