This video provides a great, balanced and considered opinion - plus it's by someone with a lot of work experience in this area, not any old loudmouth/troll.
He absolutely nails it in my view when he talks about taking away what makes a BMW and how this design makes this car look like everything else instead... |

The design that lingers
You are right. The ICE power train is going extinct but eventually all the models will be replaced by eco friendly equivalents. The thing that worries me is that BMW has pushed itself into a corner with this brutish design language and will stubbornly stay the course to try convince itself and us that it is the new beautiful.

Exactly.
It is not a subjective opinion but it is objective. A designer uses knowledge and rules to create quality designs. Frank Stephenson is a quality designer (designed the X5, McLaren P1, Ferrari F430, New Mini, etc.) and explains in the video exactly why this grille is a failure in design. It may grow on you but it will always be a failure in terms of design and what it “could” have been if designed correctly. Last edited by Gold333; 08-30-2020 at 08:25 PM.. |

He has good credentials, but he has “his opinion“ too. Just like any political talking head on FOX or CNN. Experience and personal, subjective, opinion. |
