Not me. If there was any reason to deny a warranty claim, that would be it.
Why?
None of it screws with the powertrain or increases performance!

Just redo the coding. Not hard to do.

Yes. I just leave a note taped to the steering “No software upgrade” any time I bring it in for service. I also inform the service rep at drop off. Dealers probably prefer to charge for it anyway for folks who want the update but have no option of doing it.

You might also want to disable automatic software download/upgrade from iDrive if you haven’t already done so.

Yes it’s not that big of a deal. But it also depends on the situation. If you code your headlamp and it later needs to be replaced under warranty, then I could see why they might use coding as an excuse to deny warranty claim. But if there’s an unrelated problem I see no reason why coding should be an issue.

In any case folks who are good at this will usually revert back all coding with the click of a button prior to any service repair visits. The downside of course is having to code again.

Some dealers, like mine, don’t seem to care that much. Always drop off my car as-is with all coding there even when they had to fix an issue with Remote Engine Start a year ago I left all my codes there.

It’s not as dumb as you might think. It’s due to regulation: the end user has to accept the agreements associated with the feature. It is only enabled/active after the user accepts the terms and conditions. When you received the car you MUST have done the same except if your dealership did everything prior. If you have drive recorder the same thing applies due to privacy.

Update downloaded automatically to car and installed without incident in driveway. Took about 20 minutes as advertised. No issues so far.

Can’t really code the headlamp.
Only thing that would be super obvious is disabling auto start stop, Comfor Plus, and B&W sound profile.

Well I was obviously just using headlamp as an example but yes you can code the anti-glare feature for the laser-optioned headlamps. However my point wasn’t necessarily about the specifics of what can or can’t be coded.

I haven't got the update yet for my 2023 330i. According to BMWUSA's twitter account, the May update is supposed to fix the GPS issue when using CarPlay for navigation. The issue is so bothering and I hope the fix will roll out to my car soon.

Attempted to update today and my 570 mil 2023 is now a giant paperweight that was towed to BMW due to “software upgrade failure”. A critical failure occurred and locked everything.

I updated my 2022 M340ix to 03/2023.50 recently. This was my first update using the app. I followed instructions and everything worked out fine. The only settings that were lost after the update were sport individual and eco pro individual. (My car is not coded.)

After the update, I noticed that I have a sports display option on the side screen. I did not see it before, but I was not looking for it.

You’re thinking Of only mechanical failures. If there’s any electrical glitch related to your transmission control unit or ECU they can absolutely blame coding changes on your random failure of your ECU.

There have been previous instances of people coating in an aftermarket front facing camera and then suddenly they have an issue with the ECU or other modules and they’re told to get fucked.

Got the update. Re-coded Auto Start Stop Memory feature to enabled with Bimmercode, same as after the other updates. The coding is added but it does not remember my Auto Start Stop setting like it did before.

Anyone else have this issue?

I also got the message for an OTA new version 03/2023.50
- download from the app = ok
- transfer into car = ok
- installation into car = failed

It is just the 2nd time that this happens. Going to the dealership will only help with money for having plugged the car into the tester system.

Every conditions is well, no warning lights active, solid position, batt cap over 80% ! I feel lost. What runs wrong ???

My car updated yesterday and the only change I noticed was it made me change my bmw account password to access my connected drive services.

* after more seat time since the update. I noticed that when my phone is connected either via usb or Bluetooth, the screen does not automatically change to the CarPlay screen. The phone (Amazon music) starts automatically as before, but the screen stays on the BMW Home Screen. I also noticed it set my 330e back to anticipatory hybrid mode when I had previously unchecked that box. I end up getting less all electric range when that box is checked & the car decides when it should be in hybrid vs electric modes.

Has anyone received the update in the past few days? I still haven’t received it and I’m still struggling with the GPS issue
