Phone mount
Anyone with a g20 found a good solution for mounting your phone somewhere with a charging MagSafe phone mount. The vents are in the way of touch screen and I don’t like the window or cup holder mounts I’ve found so far. I do have wireless charging but being behind the cup holder is poor design as we always have drinks with us

I used to use the Belkin MagSafe Vent Mount Pro in my 3 series and took it over to the i4 but also found it not only obscured the main screen but blocked the right hand cup holder.
Recently purchased the UGREEN Car Phone Mount for MagSafe and it's a big improvement. Not only reduces the cup holder and screen blocking, but also more secure and a lot cheaper! It is a bit further out from the vent which helps. It doesn't charge though, I just use a short USB cable if I need to charge on a longer journey. I was also playing around with stick on magsafe circles and it will easily hold an iPad Mini 4 and iPad Air 2. I was looking at them as a second screen as an additional nav and also for watching youtube when parked waiting for the kids club to finish etc. You can also spin the phone to landscape mode and it stays in place. Seems to be via the magnet and not a moving part. A $25 console organizer tray and a $20 USB-C right angle adapter and you're good to go. Gorilla Glue to hold the puck in place. Works incredibly well, doesn't move around, and never overheats. Last edited by toddwalton; 02-22-2024 at 09:58 AM.. |

Genuinely curious: why not use the center tray for your phone? I put my phone there or under the armrest (where I installed an armrest box) and simply let my phone auto connect to CarPlay.

I am watching this thread as well. Just upgraded to a Uniden R8 and Highway Radar, and need to put my phone somewhere visible.
My phone overheats when I use the NFC charging. I put it under the armrest now. |

We do (most of us) but the iPhone needs a place to charge and the wireless charger in our cars overheats our iPhones making it useless.
So (some of us) are looking for a dash-mount solution for charging, not displaying. Me, I use wireless CarPlay and I want my phone out of the way, so I have a MagSafe charger in my armrest that provides a) wireless charging, b) one-hand in/out convenience, and c) no overheating. Photos upstream in the thread. |
