So my coding of ASS off seems to work. Here's what I've done:

I set "Auto Start Stop" to Not Active
and "ASS Memory" to Active

So by default ASS is off now and it will remember my last setting if I change it using the button.

I never had an issue with this, many have, but they constantly updated their software. As I am tuned I do not update my software at all. I hadn't updated it in over a year.

The exception being last month I had an issue and I allowed the dealer to update the sw, I am now on 03/2024.25.

I then had to use bimmercode to recode all my changes. I just went ahead and did the normal settings and the ASS worked for me.

I had mentioned that bimmercode has a issue at the moment that you can't code "Body Domain Controller" and "Active Crash Module" - but that is a temporary issue and bimmercode will have an update in the next few days that fixes that.

Now one other thing that I do have, which most do not, is I run XHP (TCU/gearbox tuning software). In here there is also an option to disable ASS, which I have activated (so ASS is set to be switched off). MAYBE this makes a difference - I don't know.

Also keep in mind that none of these settings seems to switch off the ASS in ECO modes, you have to switch to ECO, then hit the button to turn it off. But I never even use Comfort let alone ECO, I only use Sport modes.

Having said that I only use Sport modes, I have tested going into Comfort a number of times and my "ASS Off" light is on (meaning it is disabled) and I have to hit the button to turn it back on.

I wonder if being on the latest s/w - I am on 03/2024.25 makes a difference. Anyone else on this update and has tested ASS off via bimmercode?

I had to re-code my Bimmercode settings. ASS does work for me. I can set "remember last setting" and that works, plus can set ASS to always off and that works for me (I can still turn it back on with the button).

But it always worked for me, however I never updated my BMW s/w as I am tuned. Recently I allowed the dealer to update s/w which I knew would relock my DME, but I did it anyway, so this was the first update in over a year for me.

One side issue - Bimmercode's latest update has a glitch - two modules are not codable, but they are fixing that and will have a new update soon I believe.
Did i read it right, your software is 03/2024? I haven’t received such update yet. Im still on 11/2023. When did the update happen?

Yes 03/2024.25 - I had the car at the dealer last month and I allowed them to update the software and that is what they installed. I am in Australia.

Once so from my experience and that of others it seems with s/w version 03/2024.25 and the latest update to bimmercode, we can properly code ASS.

Is this the consensus now? Who else has it working?

Seems from your post that you do not have a Mild Hybrid 3 series. I believe that if you have a Mild Hybrid 3 series (here in the USA that is a 2021+ model year m340i) then you do not have a Auto start/stop button like you have. Only model year 2020 m340i had that here in the USA and that did not have a mild hybrid.

I have not read of anyone with a 2021 mild hybrid m340i who has been able to successfully code the ASS to stay off with BimmerCode after updating to software 03/2023. I surely have had no success and I have a 2021 model year. I’ve tried to code it off on 03/2023 and 11/2023 software and it does not work.

Dealership updated my car to 3/2024. Tried coding ASS Memory active and ASS Function not active, both no dice.

Car is a 2020 with the physical button.

Has anyone tried to use e-sys to code ASS memory on the 03/23 release?
