thats good enough for most places.

The only bad thing about UW is they're a little pickier about their own undergrads staying for masters/law/medical. Its not to say they don't accept them but its just not like if you are a grad you get priority or anything. A lot of other schools will take you before they take others with the same qualifications/grades/ect...

Madison is amazing though.

A 3.53 is OK but you have to post good test scores and not fudge your app. I don't see why you couldn't apply to the other schools with a 3.53 as long as you wow them in the other areas.... Not entirely familiar with the process for UVA or U of Chicago, but I know for a fact that a 3.53 isn't an auto-DQ unless that has changed since I went there (late 90s).

Have you ever been to UVA's campus? It's amazing.

I agree, I was there for 3 weeks back in '03 when my band and I were recording a CD. Fell in love with that place, its a little smaller than Madison but has a very east coast U of Colorado - Boulder feeling to it without the huge town around it (granted Charlottesville is still a big town, just not 200k people big) Great local music scene and the best fucking lobster bisque I've ever had.
