No, mate, it's just a list of models.

Though it says "MECH" even for vehicles that only were offered with automatic transmissions.

As far as i remember such anomalies usually are found in cases of cars which were built by BMW for chassis corresponding Alpina.
Despite of being huge Alpina fan, i do not know if they order complete cars from BMW (most likely) which are then disassembled at Alpina plant to be refitted again with Alpina parts, or they order not complete cars (which IMO makes no logistic sense). That may explain weird findings like that one above. Eg. For sure all E60 B5 were plain 545 models before they were converted to B5. But type code wasn't 545 alike. Just my hypothesis on that.

Why i'm thinking i may be right ? Well that is no mystery than in the past i was experimenting with Alpina SW in Vanilla BMWs, had some Alpina's at workshop and i will try to find later in my archives a photos of Alpina cars/strut i have seen in the past, with original BMW VIN crossed, and new Alpina VIN stamped below.
And type codes were quite unique, created by BMW but not used in Vanilla BMW cars.
TLDR - mean some type codes from day zero are reserved only for Alpinas.

That is not exactly correct, that list contains plenty of cars that never went into series production.

However, in case of the M4 CS, it has been approved for productions long ago. The first pre-production car was built 5 month ago.

As for the MECH and AUT, do not pay attentions to it, it doesn't reveal a thing. Those are just placeholders for they way BMW creates type codes.

P.S. Can say goodbye to this source as that list no longer contains any data with the last update

Generally type codes for the Alpinas stay the same as the base car. The only exception are the US/Canadian cars that retain BMW's VIN. However, the changed type code is used for internal purposes only and doesn't appear anywhere on the car. Therefore there is no way to distinguish a B7 from a 750 just by the VIN.

Currently Alpina delivery all parts to the plant. Back in the day's cars been build in Buchloe, but not anymore.

As I know... European or German Alpina Cars getting a Alpina VIN... US Specs keeps the BMW VIN.

The Geneva Auto Show has started and we still have no confirmation of what will power the future M4 CS. I am betting on the regular ZCP power plant (450hp) but I have seen postings all over the place from 450 to 475 hp on various forums. How is BMW able to keep this under wrap for so long?

I've actually read anything between 450 and 500hp. I also can't wait for the specs to be released. I am disappointed it is taking so long since the wait ruined my plan to do an ED this summer .

I did wish for a Geneva reveal.

But, as I posted previously, with a rumored July SOP, Geneva is a bit early in the calendar. The ///M festival in May or Shanghai motor show in April are more likely candidates for the reveal.

Shanghai in April. But they will be launched on the eve of the show at the huge M Event held before a major Chinese show.

The LCI will come with the regular 2er update.
The CS later.

The CS is a rumored new M4 variant that should be slotted between the base M4 and the GTS to be revealed at the upcoming Shanghai motor show. More track focused than the base M4 but retaining more daily practicality than the GTS. Since you ordered a convertible, you should not be worried, since the CS will likely be offered as a coupe only.

it's all there

I am still amazed we haven't found out what will be powering the M4CS (how much torque and hp).

I was counting on the Geneva show for that. Still a long time to the next big event...
Still searching on various sites... all speculation still. Nothing confirmed anywhere.

I'm also eager to know what BHP/Torque it will have and if it's gonna look any different than the Competition Package M4

I am regularly scrutinizing the German press and can't find anything. They are really keeping a tight lid on this one.

From what we've see thus far, the CS will have unique front lip and rear deck spoiler, GTS style hood, M-Performance 19"-20" staggered wheels and OLED taillight that will differentiate it visually from the M4CP.

However, it is not impossible the OLED taillights will eventually also be offered as an option on the regular 4-series and M4.
