Truly awful front end and the ACC sensor could have been so much better executed on that (hate the fact it isn't symmetrical). They could have split the sensor either side of the central part of the lower grill just to make it look slightly better and easier on the eye for the OCD folks out there.
As a few others have said a bit bugs bunny like front end. The rear isn't much better either. Having had a 435d M Sport GC in the past, I can't help think they have missed the middle ground and should have come up with a better more appealing grill and rear profile to keep the enthusiasts happy while making it slightly more angular and modern. Real pity and it certainly won't be on my radar in the near future. More likely to be an X5 M50i for my next ride stepping up from my X3 M40i currently which is a blast with the rather excellent B58 engine (even with the filter slightly muting the exhaust growls and burbles)... oh well! |

From a purely style basis, if Cadillac dropped a car with a front end like this there would be 100% dissent by this section.

The F8x m3/4 really dont look that good either. It feels real svelte. At least the m2c has a better blend of mean and lean. The g80 front end looks more aggressive, even while camouflaged. Im sure the rear end of the car will also look better, stronger than the outgoing generation.

Depends on how you look at the matter. But it will be really interesting to see what the sales figures are like when it goes into production and sale.

To think we'll be subject to 6 years of this car... no convincing is going to help Bimmerpost.

Honestly I assume sales will be fine. I'll be keeping an eye on them from my F90 though.

That cruise control radar looks like is in the left side of the grill, it will be so ugly when you have your license plate installed, it just doesn't come together. They should fire the guy who designed this thing.

It's going to be all kinds of awesome. Aggressive is not just in its appearance.
Although I will probably post one day "It's been like 4 years...Get Over it!"

Jury still out for me personally.
What if the "Pure" model with manual and lesser HP retains the G20 grills? If they were smart, they would do that.. that way they can go back on this design but still give people that want to be daring the opportunity to get the full blown grill with the competition model? Seems like an easy way to satisfy both sides of the opinion on this - just a thought. That said, I will be looking at the reveal closely to make a final determination - I love my 18 f80 ZCP.. 6k miles, full PPF, just babied -- lease expires right around when these will be out -- it'll be a tough choice, but I think having a non molested low mile and well conserved f80 might trump this new model, at least until LCI -- but having the option either way is great.

Even though it seems simple but a hypothetical redesign specifically for G80 M3 would only share, at most, the headlights & grilles with the G20. It makes zero sense to re-engineer a new front clip/front assembly (i.e., safety, aerodynamics, cooling, components placement) and have a different production process beginning with differentiating the design process all the way to differentiating the automated processes on the assembly line. In other words, it'd be a new independent design exercise and process that is separate from the M4. And since the 2-door version of the M3/M4 has typically outsold its 4-door variants, there isn't even enough sales numbers to justify an independent new design for the 4-door.
