10-stage Traction Control
Is it a standard option on all 2021 M models, or Competition models?
Or is it part of an options package? I can't tell. I don't necessarily need the Drift Analyzer, but I DO want the 10-stage traction control. |

Need to tick the box for M Drive Professional to get the 10 stage traction control, just happens to come with the other fluff (Drift analyzer and the Track M Mode).

Similarly... folks, i have 2 questions-
1) What do you get with the parking assistance package? Is it a 3d camera of a camera that lets you see the wheel vs just rearview? 2) does anyone know what the lights without the exec pack look like? thanks!! |

M Drive Professional seems like a software-only option so it might be possible to purchase an upgrade to it from a dealer in the future. Or maybe it's installable with something like an FSC code in older cars.

1) Parking Assistance package gives you the 360 surround view and self parking feature. Without that box ticked you have sensors on rear and front and a rear camera 2) see this video, has the normal lights: |

I hope that’s the case it would seem like software only, but my CA said although he wasn’t 100% that it’s factory only. I really would like to know the answer to this tho.

If only HUD was ala carte then one could skip the exec pkg and avoid all the fluff.

Agreed that is really frustrating me...I have zero interest in the automatic trunk or wireless charging and the heated steering wheel I can do without. Remote start would be kind of nice

After a day with it, I find some of the executive package fluff to be things I might get used to. I usually think the technology stuff is too much fluff, but, like a traditional back up camera, some of it grows on you if you are open minded.
For me, the heated steering wheel and the HUD were worth the extra for the package and everything else was fluff. I learned to like the HUD on my last M3 because I could put the tach in the HUD - and when it went to the turbo I hated the engine noise as a guide to shift when I first changed over. The HUD tach took away a distraction early on when I was adjusting to shift timing and I have been hooked on it since. Not having to look down for speed, etc. is a big plus for me when I push the speed on the road. With this one, having my watch and phone as a key is a nice surprise. If you have more than one car grabbing the wrong key is annoying. However, I always have my phone and watch. Unlock with either, stick the phone in the charging pad and drive off with no key. Gesture control is another one of those things that seems like a waste. I may never use it much after this week, but have to say it's been fun to use it a bit. 360 camera view for me is amazing. Live in a city and constantly worry about curb rash on the wheels? 360 view makes it easy to see where you are to the curb (and even shows if your doors can open without hitting anything). And, while I've never been a dash cam person, I suspect having it will be better than not at some point. Haven't tried parking assist yet - not sure how I feel about that since I can parallel park just fine on my own. But I'll give it a try just to see if it's worth it. To me, while the executive package has a lot of stuff I could easily say I could live without before I had it, I suspect that by the time my lease runs on this one there will be a lot of things added to my must have list. May not be for everyone, but I used to think I wouldn't want to take pictures with my phone.... |

Its just like the current traction control. On, MDM, OFF. I was disappointed to not see the 10 stage traction control in the one I drove. The genius though it might only be a European thing. That's really annoying if we need to spend 2.5K to up the limiter and include 10 stage TC. Can anyone in the US confirm M Professional Driving School does in fact include the 10 stage?

10 stage TC looks like an awesome feature. With It, it seems possible you can enjoy the full performance potential of the S58 while still providing a significant safety net. Not pricey if it prevents a trip to the body shop for car and driver
