ynguldyn literally said that the redline will move north, I don't understand the confusion about BimmerMat135 question. There's a difference between peak and redline.

Peak power doesn’t mean redline…
Engine can redline to 7200 but peak power hits at 5730. There’s a difference.

What he meant was the engines overall power band is tuned to make more peak hp at a slightly higher RPM. Forget about the engines redline, he simply misspoke.

To be precise:

The new peak is what matters here, and the 5730rpm number is something you can bet your money on. As for the redline, I don't have the same kind of certainty but I still expect it to go up.

I did confuse the two in my first response.

Interesting note about the the redline, the technical manual referenced 7500rpm as redline initially, this is before the constraints of the ZF I would assume.

Here was the quote about the details as to why from the early F90 days...

Quote:
The Max Speed on torque converters is an "issue" if a very high redline is needed. At 7200rpm input speed, the impeller vanes are near supersonic, causing bubbles to form in the fluid. At 7400rpm, these bubbles implode and vaporize at 7500rpm causing complete TC Stall and physical damage. I've personally gone head to head with engineers from ZF and multiple Auto Manufacturers over this issue (coined the term ZF Honk which earned me the nickname Keyser Söze of the Automotive World). My F90 will mark the 45th BMW Group vehicle I've acquired via personal means and additionally, it, along with equipment and features the F90 introduces, will be incorporated into BMW Security Vehicles and the Security Driver Training Program which I have been an instructor at for 2 decades.
The only car with a ZF with a higher redline is the giulia quadrifoglio at 7400rpm.

Thats not the case here though. The engine will get an update, the power will still be underrated, and it will still make more power than the current one.

Yeah doesn’t mean the base trim won’t get a gain. It just mean that as for now the only information available is for the Xdrive version.

It does mean the base model will not receive any power gains.

Since the M2 is suppose to have a 22hp bump for the MY2025 if the Base M3 don’t get any gain i think it will be a tough sell versus the M2. Anyway maybe the Base M3 will just be drop by Bmw.

The G87 will not get 22hp bump but 20hp to be more precise. It will have 473hp, same as the base G80/82.

The base G82 will not get any power increases. Anything else I can help you with?

I think dropping the manual is probably the best option. For the most part anyone who really wanted it already has it and the remaining are those waiting for resale to drop on them.

I believe this will also answer your question:
"The base M car is going away as the BMW M CEO has announced that “Competition” will effectively become the entry point into the lineup of a fully fledged M car. The disclosure was made by Frank van Meel in an interview with Car Throttle during which he also explained why the company charges extra for the M2 G87’s manual gearbox."

My plan was to order one for like the second-to-last or last month of production, so not all.
