Unhappy Car trapped and tax

Sadly my new M340i Touring is stuck at the distribution centre awaiting a car transporter to the dealer. It should have been at the dealer on Friday so I could pickup on Monday. The dealer is closed for new car sales.

Obviously with all that is going on at the moment this is small beans.

What is frustrating is that as they cannot register it before 1st April I will have to pay £750 extra in car tax! We rushed everything to get a build slot to get it by then. I was hoping DVLA would announce a suspension of the new rules for a while but I haven't seen anything so far from them.

I have legally given up my current 535d car on its PCP and BCA were coming on Monday to get it. I am hoping they are shut down too as i need it for work (I am a key worker).

Plus I was excited to play with it and had a detailer booked to sort the black paint.

That's a bummer ! I wasn't able to get a build slot to get a car before the end of the tax and ended up ordering a G21 340d. I had a build slot of week 17 which is now pushed back indefinitely.

Good luck. I look forward to seeing your pics.

Me too! I am swapping from a 535d so I know that engine is brilliant. I do much less mileage now so petrol makes more sense for me.

Mine is in Thorne, was supposed to be delivered (direct to me) next week. I've been told 'beyond end of April' earliest.

*EDIT: Obviously, might still be sat at home then anyway! ;-0

Spoke to salesman yesterday while he was at home and he said mine is probably in Thorne too. When he left work it said it was awaiting transport to dealer. So frustrating and having to pay an extra £750 is a pain at the moment. I am at home too and may be for a while!

Good luck to all those having difficulty now and keep safe.

I'm in the same boat, but a few weeks wait is nothing compared to what's going on at the moment.
My dealer have said that they will cover the RFL increase if the government don't postpone the RFL increase for people who were due cars to be delivered before 1/4.
My new delivery is currently scheduled for 29/4 from 31/3. This may change again if the lockdown is extended. We'll see I guess but I imagine there will be a phased way out of the lockdown so maybe the date will work. I'm relaxed either way.

Absolutely Pete. This is small beans compared to our health issues.

My Dealer hasn't been kind enough to suggest they will cover the cost, but once we are out of this we shall see. They have no date for me so far sadly. Britiah Car Auctions were supposed to pick my 535d up on Monday but hopefully they won't as I need a car for work! I returned it under my rights on the PCP so not mine really anymore!

Had the same thing (2 week gap between car pick up and new car arrival) and the dealer gave me a loaner to cover the gap. Might be worth asking

Thanks. Sadly the dealer is shut until further notice.

I can cope due to other cars in the family but won't be fun or easy.
