Dinan vs H&R Springs

I’m finally getting around to lowering my 330i M Sport and I’ve narrowed it down to the H&R Sport and Dinan springs. I’ve got the non adaptive M sport suspension and wanted to get feedback on the ride quality, installation, and any related issues with either springs.

I’ve heard that the Dinan springs retain warranty but my local BMW dealers, who are no longer AD’s, do not support them any longer. What gives with that?

The warranty is the same with either; the dealership will not do free warranty work on your suspension if they think your springs caused the damage. All other warranty work is intact.

The difference between the 2 is the drop; H&R is more aggressive. Ride quality is the same, in my opinion.

Does H&R sell a Ride Quality kit like Dinan? Would love the lower H&R but wondering compatibility with a Dinan RQ?

I'm lowered on Dinan springs with the bump stops. I'm in SoFlo , specifically Broward county. If you haven't purchased yet pm me and we can meet up to let you see how the springs feel.

If your leaning more towards looks rather than ride quality, h&r is the way to go. I’m currently rocking Dinan springs with the ride quality kit on my 23’ m340i w/ adaptive suspension and the ride quality is very similar, if not exactly the same, in comfort/eco, but you will notice a slight difference in sports plus. I’m planning on swapping over to h&r though because they drop the car just that much more and it just looks amazing imo. Still very happy with Dinan otherwise though.

To add value to this thread, if you track your car or go for spirited drives with turnes and camber to the road, I believe the H&R springs will cause rubbing unless front camber plates are added.

I am currently on dinan springs and already at the limit of height before rubbing occurs during hard turns with camber on track.

Thank you to everyone for their input. I was able to source a set of Dinan springs from an owner changing their setup and ordered the Dinan supplemental kit. My buddy is handling the install and alignment while I’ll be on vacation so it’ll be sweet coming back to a freshly lowered daily

I'm on HR on my 330 and I personally feel it's a bit too harsh - however, that could be, in part, due to my 19 inch rims. If you're in a RWD drive model, like me, I hate to say that lowering may be costing you time on 0-60. I am tuned to over 300whp, and with the H&Rs I get a lot of screeching off the line, unless I am very conservative with the gas pedal. With the Racebox, studying a range of my best 0-30 launches, combined with my best 30-60 times, suggests in theory, I should be able to achieve 60 times of 4.5-4.6 seconds with my tune. However, even with the additional 60whp, my best times are 4.9-5.1s. It's very difficult to lay the power down. A wider rim/tire combo may resolve the issue, but I haven't tested that idea. I know everyone doesn't care about off the line acceleration, but that is just something to consider with lowering springs. And if you are going to go that route, I would suggest the moderate .75 inch rear drop of the Dinans, over the aggressive 1.5 inch rear drop of the H&Rs.

Did you get the 'ride quality' bump stops with it? How is the ride?

Ride isn't bad, definitely harsher than stock. I increased my tire pressures so that could have accounted for some of the harshness. I do have the supplemental ride kit, not sure it's even necessary, the drop is very mild.

What size tires are you running?

I'm curious roughly how many finger gap difference is there between the Dinan and H&R?

For instance, for Dinan, is there a one and half finger gap versus one only on the h&r?

I know it's not scientific but I was just curious.

Went with the Dinan Sport Springs with the Ride Quality Kit and had them installed today. So far so good. Read a lot about some regrets regarding the HRs bottoming out often enough. The subtle Dinan drop works better for my peace of mind.

Just out of curiosity, how has the ride been since you've had them installed? Was there an additional drop?
