The widebody is a must, that's new!

But yeah, you're touching on a good point there, part of the reason is because the chassis is getting pretty old now. But that's not saying much - just look at the ZL1 LTE. One of or if not the best drivers car for its price range, but an absolutely ancient chassis they iterated on to perfection.

So with that considered......why not buy one if the widebody, price, class performance and "chassis iterated to perfection" check all of the boxes (...especially since you nullified your own criticism)? Something else is keeping you from pulling the trigger despite the car's accolades. What is it?

It was more of a reply to the implied meaning of your previous comment about the chargers having been that way "for years". I thought it was a hint at the aging chassis of the vehicle, but I apologize if I read a little too into it.

So why don't I buy it? Because I'm not in the market for a new car

but then I'd sit in one and conclude the interior just can't be tolerated,
so I'd head over to the Benz GT and get really REALLY close to signing the check
but ultimately puss out because the price wouldn't seem quite worth it
so I'd move over to the M8 'vert and get really really REALLY close
but decide I just didn't need the extra luxury in a 'vert and figure
as long as I'm looking at pigs I might as well peek at the M5 even though no vert,
and then I'd see the lease deals and all of a sudden an M5 with a moonroof would start looking pretty fucking close to a vert
plus, holy shit, M5C so I'd end up with that.

It's a pretty simple 16 step process
If you haven’t seen a 992 in person I’d check it out. The rear is not photogenic but it looks amazing in person in my humble opinion

I'm moving in about 8 months so I have a few scenarios to consider:

1) move near a good track or two:
M3 no good: keep my SS 1LE
M3 good: buy the M3 and daily it with about 10-20 track days/year

2) more than a few hours to nearest track:
M3 no good: get an RS6 avant, RSQ8, GLC63 or M5C
M3 good: depends on how good if it always me from the above... possibly buy the G80.

In all scenarios, once I'm all square on a certain student loan payment, plan on adding Carrera T, GT4 or GT3.

plenty variables to work out but I'll keep you posted...I'll know more come March

Sounds like a solid plan with all of the angles covered.

The talk of EV's taking over won't happen in my lifetime. The infrastructure won't support it and humans are stubborn. People have been touting that EV's will take over ever since the Prius was introduced.

Already went for M340i xDrive. It's no big M but it's a fantastic car. SQ5 lease is up next year and will probably go X3M.

From most expensive to least:

2015-2016 AMG GTS

2012-2015 GTR

Next gen M2 if it has b58, may consider it with s58 if it sounds good

2018 M2 with N55 (I hate the s55 sound, its awful) 2018 gets you alot of missing features

where I live 3 every 10 cars is Tesla already.... sure it will take a long time but I think high performance/luxury/high end market will be dominated much sooner. like if I were after a 4 door porch the Tycan would be my choice over panorama any day

Yep - as soon as they put in a dozen supercharger stations at ThunderHill and Laguna Seca I'll be all over a Taycan ;-)

Until then, I don't think I can afford to take that many Duracells with me.
