Tesla will never gives you that feeling driving proper drivers car. M3 will. Choice is yours, a lot of people cant drive properly and enjoy cars like M cars. End of story, go buy your new Tesla (and I do understand why) and be happy. (I do not own M3. But M2).

Not noticed an issue but I don’t use the sport setting (which adds artificial weight and just feels weird).

The F82 M3C is an all time great and will remain desirable for a long time - more so than the E90 did IMO. One of the best looking cars ever made. The G20 makes it feel very old, though as an ownership experience (which is fine but noteworthy). The chassis and the grip levels on the new car mean you can basically keep your foot in whatever the bend, in a way I probably wouldn’t have in the M. It’s very useable and very, very quick. But, it’s much more refined than the M and in non Sport mode, just feels like a comfortable cruiser. Think C43, rather than F30 340i.

So in reality, can’t go wrong with either. Depends what you want from a car on a day to day basis. Drive both... I’d say going off the M340, the next M3 is going to be incredible, just a shame it’s be hideous looking.
Thanks for advice, I don't even wanna consider f30 340i and c43 is completely out of the question, it's f80 M3c manual or g20 M340i, if M340i was manual rwd, then I'd go for it, but it isn't and I can't afford new M3.

How many of us live near twisty mountain roads? However, just about everyone has a stop light or an on ramp to a highway near them.

That's ironic because I feel that the best part of these types of threads are the M340i owners who feel like they need to justify not getting a M car.
That's also ironic because I think it's crazy to buy cars based on what other people think.

Tesla is a dog 60-130. Can Only run full out once - twice at most. Then the "magic" 0-60 numbers slow way down.

Not to mention the awful quality - paint drips and misaligned gaps
That is not accurate with the Model 3 Performance. Multiple runs back to back 3.0 ish 0-60 off the lot. And it doesn't matter what altitude, tires, road condition, driver experience etc. Above 70-80 yeah the acceleration drops off, but Im not looking to get my license revoked either. If you got to run to 120 to beat me well thats all you. As for build quality well that have ironed alot of that out. I picked up mine in Dec and didn't and still don't have a single issue. I've been a BMW fan for years and still have one in the garage. My tesla is at a different level that you cannot appreciate until you drive one. Its not everyone's cup of tea for sure, but for me it checks all the boxes and i can live without an exhaust that turns everyone's head including law enforcement.

Yeah I just meant the M340 is now a competitor to Mercs C43, which I’d say it wasn’t before.

It was the best compromise for me at the time, I love it for the day to day and on the uk roads it's more than enough for 90% of the time, but i can tell it's no where near dynamic as an M3 would be. The price difference at the time was a push too far at the time of purchase with what I had going on, I have no problems saying that, any 340i owner that tells you that wouldn't prefer an M3 is lying in my opinion, 340 is still a great car, but it's no M3 which is also reflected by the price and discounts offered.
Ex F30 340 and current G21 M340 owner here. I loved my 340i but...go drive the new car. It’s in a completely different league to the old one in every way and you will love it 😀. I actually chose it over an M4 (which are now 25% off if you want one, as it’s on the way out) because every day, I find it a more enjoyable car to drive when not at full pelt.

On a track....very different story! M4 every time...
It's really not. Still feels slushie and soft as well as not confidence inspiring anywhere past 7/10ths.

You sound confused. Let me help clarify: we're talking about what we enjoy most when reading these threads. No one mentioned buying based on what people think.

I'd still rather drive a RWD manual (or DCT) F80. It is far more fun.
The G20 is a much better car then an F30. Owned two F30's a 328 & 340. Both cars had adaptive, M sport brakes, etc. Michelin 4s. Now own an M340. Not even close no matter how you tweak a F30. When the G80 comes out the F80 will be yesterday's news. It's in the bones.
Seriously this. The G20 drives so much better. I would gladly pick the G20 M340 over the F30 M.

There is no such thing as an F30 M. There is a F80
M and there is a F30 M Sport. As a former owner of both a F30 340i M Sport and two F80's, dynamically the F30 is nothing like the F80.

After 4 years in M3 f80, I unfortunately must say it is not a true M. However comparing it to new M340 is not correct. M340 will be left behind by the new M3/4 in a few months.

We should differentiate opinions and facts. The F8x is, in fact, a true M car.
