Power Rear Sunshade?

Do any regions offer the Power Rear Sunshade like they have in all other 3 series cars in the past decade or so? The BMW USA site does not have it as an option, but I really find it useful.

I like--"grandma shutters." I like the option to be able to lower the rear back glass at night. Plus, I have two kids in the back seat, so the side shades are nice to have.

It did not appear that any of the configurators from other countries had it as an option either.

Looks like no side shades either? I like having them and the rear blind, you can take them down when you want to, a little tough to do with tint.

That’s a shame. I don’t use the much but when I do they are great.

It isn't an either/or situation. I have 3m Crystalline tint and rear sun shade option. I like the sun shades for security masking as well as solar heat management.

I just picked up my M340i and was disappointed to learn the the manual rear passenger sunshades and the motorized rear window sunshades were no longer available. Such a useful thing, why remove it? I have always tinted my windows up to maximum legal limit, but the addition of sunshades added even more solar heat protection and privacy. I liked having them. Now the darkest legal limit to tinting in Toronto is 30%. It used to be 20%. With that in mind it would have been great to still have the sunshades.

I like the rear/side sunshades as well. I have had them optioned on EVERY BMW that I have owned, from regular 3-Series' to ///M's to X5's. I hope they are available on the new ///M. I'm not a fan of tint really. I just don't like it on my personal vehicles, but I understand why most people like tint (...even though it poses a danger for me professionally).

Definitely don't need those shades on this car.

Define need and why this car differs.

Yeah, explain why this car somehow doesn't need the sunshades.

I agree with the tinting, especially for those living in very hot locations. I have done both. A good nano tint doesn't have to darken the cabin but can still reduce heat load.

Shoot- I agree with tinting too! I chose 3m Crystalline film... But it doesn't lessen my love for my roller shade. The roller shade is actually a great compliment to the tint as the shade provides additional heat rejection and security on demand while I use a light (70%) tint film.

Anyone ever get an update on this? Seems crazy to not have it as an option. It was one of the few stand outs against competitors in the segment.

Window tint legal limit is 35% here in most northeastern states. The window itself is blocks about 6% of the light. If the glass is even the slightest bit of road dust on it, add another 5%. 50% is what most installers will guarantee against tickets. Not a lot of protection for my infant's eyes when the sun is coming in from the rear. Would be nice to pop open the shade when it is needed.

I am going to retrofit something but, it would be nice if there was something from other regions we could use.

This is one of the things I miss the most on my g20 right now. My previous car had 35% ceramic and all power shades. I never really had to worry about the sun being in my little ones eyes. My oldest even did a few quick outfit changes in the back since you couldnt see in. Maybe I can get some pop in shades like on my old E82 one day

Miss them also from my F30. Really disappointed BMW discontinued it for the G20.

I've had it in my F30 and currently have it in my F82 as well. I use it as an additional tint to my auto dimming rear view mirror at night. But I'm guessing it was optioned on very few cars so it probably wasn't worth it for BMW to make it an option.

This and not to mention the fact that tints are illegal in many countries.

This my 1st BMW that I ordered without shades. Even all of my coupes had the rear shade.

I hope they will bring them back.

I am very sad they do not offer them on the 3 series. They are on the 5 and 7 series and I know they are available in Europe. I wonder if I really try, I can custom order for a G20. I really don't want a 5 series (too large).

Thread resurrection or what?!
Where are you ordering yours from? I might consider them. Surprised BimmerTech don't have an offering for this.

I don't think they are available on G20s in Europe as well. I have never seen one equipped with it during my travels there.
