I would be not so sure, that the G80M3 gets an MT. He speaks about an MT in the coming G8x Ms and not special about an G80M3 with MT. I think MT will only come with RWD in an "Pure"-Model with less HP and not a option in the regular G8x Ms.

And according to other interviews with M Officials I think there will be only one "Pure"-Model ... the G82M4 Pure !?

The manual does in fact have advantages, it retains loyal enthusiast customers like myself. 10 BMWs so far. And it looks like I will be placing an order for my 11th soon.

Screw being faster. I'd buy a Tesla if all I wanted was 0-60 and lap times.

The manual is an experience. It's visceral. It's a characteristic of BMW M cars since inception.

Do not squander your heritage.
Perfectly said!

What article said it wasn't coming? I thought the only thing that said there'd be no manual was the rumor from the Bimmerpost post from Jason.

On a related note, I was thinking this was a fake leak to find out who was leaking data to Bimmerpost.

it's good that they are keeping manual as an option, regardless of what engine or awd/rwd layout it is offered in

Dct might have been good for several yrs, but the "newer" auto, according to manufacturers (not me), can take up more torque stress and shift even smoother and as fast as dct, and ultimately is more reliable source to utilize in sports cars.

With that said, automatic/dct is an evolving technology, no one wants a 20yr old shitbox tranny (smg cough cough) today, in the same way that no one wants to use an iphone 3 when there's an iphone X.
Manual is a different entity though, like how he mentioned it's like a mechanical watch. a 1973 911 manual shifts the same mechanism as 2019 F80 M3 6MT.
It's not upto the technology, it's YOU who's in control of the rpm and speed, and that's the beauty of driving manual cars.
That's why F430 6MT is still shooting up in value and why GT3 came back with manual option.
if all you want is speed and fast shifting with less lag everytime you shift (lol....) why not jus get a Tesla with no shifting lag (no tranny in existence) with an electric motor...

This is awesome. All this proves is there's chaos at BMW.

How possible is it that they (BMW) don't know yet? Or perhaps they revisited the MT idea and went back and forth on it recently?

You should be banned for this.

He was asked about the upcoming M3/M4s. He responded. Logic also dictates as the two cars are essentially brother and sister.
