That 2 lbs makes all the difference.

My M3 CS and the M4 CS don't have it. Maybe the "Pure" model will have it disabled. Either way, a simple coding will fix that problem.

Is it really confirmed no ASD in the CS models? I thought I read somewhere that they do. I don't really mind it. With the windows down in Sport+ mode the turbos sound pretty real to me.
I don't hear the ASD at all. It was very noticeable in the my non-ZCP and the ZCPs I've driven at Thermal.

I'd love confirmation one way or other on the CS models. If no AS on CS I'd want to give BMW a thank you thumbs up.

I'm pretty confident all of these cars actually do have ASD, I heard it clearly in the G30 530i loaner I had two months ago.

It's a lot more obvious in some models (the M Performance models or the ones with shitty sounding 4 cylinder engines that need more help sounding decent) but it's there in all cars.

My F30 340i had very subtle ASD, many people swore it wasn't there at all but once you code it off you realize it was actually contributing a lot to the interior volume level.

I would say it's likely. I don't personally have an issue with the ASD though.

Active sound...... the tip of the iceberg that started with the F80. Now reality is setting in, the G80 may be a bridge, I mean a generation, too far.
It's really a fast, luxury cruiser first and foremost.

Gone are the homolagation race cars, gone is the raw E46M, gone is the sweet sounding V8 with the ability to order a compete stripper without Nav, leather, folding mirrors , window shades etc. ,,,
Now it's loaded with option packages to appease the masses.

I have rented hundreds of G30s and never seen a 530i with ASD.

Never understood the active sound, suppose the S55 sound was so shitty that it forced the engineers into more stupid ways of solving the problem. Porsche has "sound symposer" solution which is actual pipes feeding real induction sound into the cabin...with less insulation for the sportier 911s...

Best to sell the '17 for scrap metal and enjoy the '13!
The S55 itself doesn't sound shitty at all. Have you ever rolled down the windows of an F8X on a quiet night and actually listened to the motor and those sonorous turbos spool???? The exhaust might leave more to be desired by some people's accounts, but the motor itself sounds wonderful.
