Stock Map, I also find that it gives me better indication of traffic and better arrival times. I feel like if everyone is using Google Maps or Waze, everyone will be going the same route... which maybe leads to more traffic...? I guess it depends where you live.

ID7, I use stock Nav (as does BEAR-AvHistory) but have Waze in the display. This way, between Waze and R8, I have an awareness of potential traps, but with directions showing in the HUD.

It took me a little while to realize I could put anything on the center screen while using navigation. However, if you use any navigation apps on the phone, it will stop the stock nav.

Google maps dynamically changes the route based on traffic, so no.

ID8 carplay GPS bug forced me back to the stock nav but after a little time i'm fine with it, it's actually very good, HUD integration is really nice and much better than what you get with carplay nav, and i actually like the car's spotify app better as well.

I prefer built in nav having tried google apple and waze. Integration is obviously far better and it’s so much easier to zoom in and out in the move with the knob. I also found google has given really poor advice in traffic jams a number of times.

Id8 here. I primarily use the stock nav. As others have said, the native nav is much, much better than 5-10 years ago. Everything is up-to-date and in real time.

I’ll use Apple CarPlay occasionally if there’s traffic on the route to see if it shows the same route as the native nav.

One thing that blows about Apple CarPlay is the GPS “drift” that happens occasionally.

I love the stock BMW nav but Waze is best for warnings and Apple Maps is best for integration with the phone.

Waze gets my vote because there are a lot of potholes, cops, construction areas and roadkill where I drive; and fellow Wazers in the area are good contributors.

After getting used to all of the crowd sourcing benefits of Waze it puts Google Maps second and the stock nav a distant 3rd. Waze is also much prettier than the stock nav.

I use Google Maps. The stock Nav has better integration in the HUD but I cant trust it to get me back to my igloo.

Stock would be fine if that was all I had but in comparison I agree, it is relatively useless

After reading through this thread, I have two questions that hopefully this group can help answer:

1. What are the specific benefits of Waze? I must be missing out as I’ve been using google or Apple Maps depending on which phone I’m currently using. I’ve only heard of speed traps being crowd sourced and I’ve never had issues with the traffic info on either nav systems. Neither of those would really provide me any value currently so when I tried Waze like 5 years ago, I didn’t like the interface so I uninstalled. I feel like I’m missing out based on this thread!

2. How are you all searching on the stock nav? I do like it’s route guidance as well but it can’t find simple business around me when I search for them by name. I don’t like to have to look up the exact address and enter that in on the touch screen

I see two benefits. The big one is the crowdsourcing information. I've caught lots of upcoming cops with it. Secondarily, it's prettier

Easier to navigate with. Crisp clear big font, easier to read illustrations , and it's more accurate etc.

Not to mention other waze people, typically, are very helpful in providing in real time what's going on on the road. So if they get a notification saying, "cop in 0.2 miles, still there?" That waze person would hit "still there", to alert any other people using waze that's coming up on that cop that's going the same direction that person went.

I know some people can be jerks and give false readings but so far using it for years, that hardly ever happens. Usually it's a stopped car that's wrong sometimes. But the cop part is usually right 9/10 times.

Plus it's just better than the stock nav lol

I appreciate the feedback here and it sounds like it still wouldn’t be beneficial for me to switch. I think Apple Maps is good looking and I have no issues reading anything on the screen. I also haven’t gotten a speeding ticket since I was 17 so while the speed trap stuff would be a welcome feature, I don’t think it would provide much value to me personally.
