Am I the only one who sees the proportions of the 440i are completely off?? It's hideous and huge! Look at the overhangs compared to the F32/F82, how could BMW screw this up so badly?!
Rear wheel looks kinda tiny in that pic.
Granted, this is outdated, but it should be the template regardless. The window/wheel proportions are awesome and the overhangs/length are just right.

I still stand by thoughts/opinions about this... Kink... Eliminating it was a BAD idea. Just wrong. It eliminated the appearance that it was moving while being still, now it looks like it's leaning forward, like an Audi coupe.

Good design Exhibit A:

4 series looks good in M440i version w blackout grill upgraded rims and brakes, but thats like 80,000 USD. And the non-M sport kit versions look awful, like embarrassingly bad. I guess its not going to matter though because the tech in these cars obsoletes them in about 3-5 years so its going to be more necessary than ever to upgrade - cars have become phones. This is why BMW can "get away with" this terrible grill design, which they want to create brand recognition.

If you are a current f-series 4 owner, these are the BMW options I see for upgrade: G series 3 (meh) 4 (which isnt looking great) G series 5 especially facelift (nice but not as sporty of a drive) upcoming 2 series (but its small)

Good design Exhibit A:
The kink wasn't eliminated. It was reinterpreted. The side window graphic is still uniquely BMW.

If you look at the side window graphics of the Audi A5 Sportback and A7, and even the Ford Fusion and MB C coupe, they all have a forwards bending kink not too dissimilar to BMW's traditional look. Yet they're clearly not Hofmeister kinks. Case in point, the direction of the bend doesn't make the "kink", IMO. How the kink is integrated into the greenhouse (especially the tensioning of the lines) is what makes a BMW side profile more recognizable as one. Just like how the "kinks" were all reinterpreted for the current 3 Series, X3/4/5 and 8 GC, yet they are all instantly recognizable as a BMW from the C/D pillar forward.

I'm very thankful I'm not a dealer. I can't imagine the amount of soul-searching and shame that would accompany trying to hock that silly-looking 4er. The "flat-ass in thong" description is simply spot-on. I just couldn't stand myself if I convinced some poor sot that this was the BMW they always wanted.

Yes, i think so to. The E90M3 got, as the only E90, the front from the E92/93, so they have done this before with M cars.

How do you figure $80k? M440ix base with delivery is $59,400 and even if you added a bunch of options, leather, and individual color, you should still be in the mid to upper $60s. Not a bad price for such a car.

I just hope that with all this distaste people show, actually translates into a lack of sales for the 4, m3/4, so they go back to making beautiful vehicles.

For all the complaints, the m4 is going to sell well because that engine is a hoot. Put it in a cardboard box and it will sell

I mean the new 4 series has potential but when you see the grey one dead front on, it’s just so wrong. I hate to say it but it’s like the whole front end has Down’s syndrome

The bonnet shut line curves downwards, the bottom of the bumper is narrower the wings, the grilles are terrible, the lights aren’t great, the bumper below the grilles is high in the middle. It’s just so so wrong.

Sorry I don't see it. I think people are coming up with these other cars for obvious reasons of dislike.

I doubt the M440 will get anywhere near $80k USD. That would put it in serious M3/4 territory and $15k more than a pretty well optioned M340xdrive.

Best bet to change the design in a better direction is not to buy, nor lease, this hideous creation. This generation of the 4er is already lost but if there is to be any chance of a more appealing design in the next iteration then just stay away from this vehicle.

Just speaking my personal opinion the new 1- and 2-series are so ugly I can't but think it's a mockery towards enthusiasts but I think BMW overestimate the brand value in the aspect of that we will not buy ugly cars just because of the brand and that they are still really good driver cars. They have to look good too...

Best looking BMWS in no particular order:
M3 E92
M4
M2 OG
M8
M3 E46
M6 Bangle Design (that's right, I went there!)

An M340ix fully loaded is almost 70k before tax (NO individual colors) the 440 will definitely be in the 70's. If you want to factor in tax and some M-performance parts (I think that's what the poster you quoted was saying) then you're nearing 80k.

I guess not too far off. Who knows.

Massive discounts to move them due to everyone thinking they’re ugly? Lol.
