New M340i M Performance parts coming soon

@BMWm340ixC1X If you're purely looking at a straight line comparison then I can see your point but there is of course much more to an M car than it's straight line speed. Also there are many that daily drive their F8x though I could say the E9x platform was a bit more harsh to deal with as a DD, why do people get mistaken that an M3 must be a garage queen like a GT3 RS when it's more than capable of being a DD unless weather becomes a factor?

*M performance brakes is obviously a genuine performance upgrade, whether you need it or not.
*Carbon fiber this or that is clearly for the looks, not "performance", unless we are getting major CF structures, such as the hood, which lighten the car significantly.
*M performance exhaust which doesn't increase power/torque in some tangible amount is merely a very expensive noise maker......that's the way I see it.

Can't wait to see these parts in the flesh, as well as the Fiona red interior.

M performance sounds good middle ground, I'm sure my wife will not tolerate M5 competition stiffness, had I have more open road I have no problem puffing more to get M550 instead my 540 (as M5 was out the question, not financial reason just wife think it's too hard of a car) think same thinking apply to M340 vs full blown M3 for a lot people (and 4 door is probably a big plus too)

Now if lower range of Alpina is available then that would have been a different story...

BMW: Here's a mid level car between the regular pedestrian 3 and the M3! Introducing the Mxxxi cars!
People: Yay finally I get a more saucier version without having to buy a full M!
BMW: BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Here's more "M" sauce for your souped up non-M to make it even MAOR M!

I don't get it either.
Most of us did not want an M car, we want the middle ground Mxxxi car for the additional comfort and practicality while still being fairly fun to drive. I cross shopped a 2018 M3, but chose the M340i for my current needs. Adding black grills, wheels, and/or an exhaust are things we like. We aren't doing widebody conversions and motor swaps to pose as an Mx car, we simply like the parts that are offered, and BMW marketing slaps the ///M name on them. I like being able to add these items because they are subtle, OEM, and the dealership won't give me crap for having them.

We are simply modding these cars like you did with your 328, we aren't trying to make them into a M car any more than you are.
Very good resume, I agree with .

You must be a hoot at parties!

If folks want to add cosmetically or performance-wise to their cars, what does it matter to you? Even M3 car owners do these exact same upgrades - do you think M5 owners yell off their front lawn like you telling us to just "get a better car"?

The 340 is a very capable car and can be made even more capable with modest upgrades. I love the options BMW gives you to enhance each platform. I modded the crap out of my 335 and loved every bit of it. You should learn to do the same too.

My guess is definitely not 18" rotors as they're probably the same brakes announced with the G20 330i as an "18 inch brake system". My guess is that they call it an 18 inch brake system since it requires 18" wheels, not because that's the size of the rotors.
The M Performance 18" braking system is recognisable from the red colour of the brake calipers. Not only does this give it an attractive appearance, but the sports brakes also feature considerably enhanced deceleration performance for sporty driving. Compared to the serial-production brakes, the 18-inch brake discs are bigger, perforated, grooved, and of lightweight construction. They have a higher thermal resistance, for which reason they remain extremely stable even under extreme conditions. The four-piston brake calipers are made of aluminium, in line with the consistent lightweight construction concept of the vehicle.
I realize this says 18-inch brake discs but this is a pic with 20" wheels and there appears to be more than an inch gap around.

I'm all for big brakes, but 18" brakes doesn't make sense... current gen M3/M4 standard rotors are just shy of 15", Carbon Ceramic rotors are about 15.75".

18" rotors would need 21-22" wheels depending on the caliper design...

The 14.7” on the M35i won’t even clear 18” wheels.
