Just sold my M235i and got an M340i xdrive 7/2/2019
Likes: Overall I like the car. It's nicer. The interior especially. I like the digital display. I like the ambient lighting. I like the self-drive (most of the time). I like sport-plus mode. I actually like that it feels a little bigger and more relaxed. Dislikes: Comfort mode is like driving a Civic power-wise. I don't need exhaust popping noises in sport-plus please. CARPLAY & BLUETOOTH ARE GARBAGE, TURNED THEM OFF. The HK system is muddy and sounds good 33% of the time (How is Paula Abdul - Straight Up the best song for it?!). The grab-to-unlock doesn't work as well as it did on the M235i. The homelink mirror doesn't work as well either. Park assist is glitchy and has trouble identifying spots. I may like that it feels bigger, but every time I park it and get out I realize that it actually IS bigger. I park next to my neighbor's F30 every day and I'm like fuck this thing is a yacht. I was worried when I bought it (without ever driving one) that coming from a 2-series that it would feel like a Lincoln Towncar, but actually I really like the way it drives. I'm pretty happy with the car and the dislikes are mostly annoyances. I like it enough that now I'm sad I didn't wait for the G22 or the G82 Please fix the CarPlay and Bluetooth integration, jesus. |

I agree with your comments on Bluetooth...but it didn't work in the M235i either (and I don't use CarPlay). Interestingly, the comfort access system on my M340 works better than it did on the M235, so sounds like I have the opposite experience to you on that one. |

I can't tell you how many times I've had to delete and re-add the phone to bluetooth devices to get it to work again until I finally said fuck it and just deleted it. I was on a 5 hour drive after I got it trying for a solid 20 minutes to get music to come out of the car with CarPlay enabled and it just kept coming through the phone no matter what. I've never used bluetooth for phone calls, have never liked it. |

iDrive 6 in my 2017 340 has been a nightmare. A not small part of the reason I pulled the trigger on the M340. 😆

Just love the miles per gallon!
As an example last week drove from ‘sarf London to Rochester, Kent distance about 60 miles return at speeds varying up to 80mph (got to keep up with the flow) and got 40.7 mpg. I didn’t watch my speed (much) didn’t think about mpg and got 40.7 amazing! I well recall my E90 320i and it was a struggle to get 27mpg and that didn’t have 255hp. I much like all the other features, my best new car buy ever for sure, the only dislike is the time the BMW Connected app takes to re-locate, then it finds me in German of all places. Then days later it finds the motor! But no sweat, am not unduly fretting. What I like is it’s good all round ability and very drivable about town and on the motorway. An excellent buy indeed! |

Does anyone else have issues with sunlight reflecting off the chrome in the center dashboard and blinding you?
Other than that, I love my car. (ignoring carplay) |

Hey, all. There have been numerous mentions of buggy CarPlay. I'm looking at picking up a G20, but I really need CarPlay to function (it's for my wife, and I really don't think I can emotionally handle daily complaints about CarPlay not working correctly). Is wired CarPlay an option, and if so, does the experience change when using it wired vs. wireless?

While driving a loaner G20 330i (and not reading the manual just yet):
- Turn signal switch requires more effort to activate and slightly more effort to deactivate vs F30 - Gauages are white during the night. Could not find any options to change the color to orange - Flat buttons around the dial controller are not as intuitive as raised buttons on F30 |

Here's an odd one. I think my idrive controller is operating in reverse.
When I'm on the main idrive page, turning the controller clockwise makes the cursor go down the icons on the left and counter clockwise makes the cursor go up. I swear when I first got the car, that the direction was different. Turning the controller clockwise made the cursor go up the list of icons and then over to the main panels if you keep on turning. Is my controller working correctly? Is my memory total shit? Any input is appreciated. |

Love love love the live cockpit!
Really hate that you can't completely shut down the screens without locking the door. For my old 2016 320i, you just need to push the start/stop button 2 times, then everything is off. For this new car, if i open the passenger side door to get things out after the car is off (without locking), all the screens will turn back on and it simply just won't shut down. I park my car in the garage and never lock it, so this is really frustrating... |
