My 330i xDrive loaner is jerky at low speeds

I'm currently driving a new 330i with ~600 miles while my 340i is in for service. I notice that the trans. seems jerky, almost rubber band like at very low speeds. Anyone else notice this?

The ride quality is a big step up from the F series which was a bit harsh and unrefined with mid-corner bumps.

Refinement of the I4 engine in terms or NVH is improved as well.

The jerky shifts might bother me if I owned one.

Yeah, anything at neighborhood or parking lot speeds is like being on an old roller coaster. Really terrible shifting under 20mph.

My car behaves the same way. I had in for service to verify nothing was wrong with the transmission. Operating as designed.

Interesting... I have the M340i and it's super smooth and don't even feel the shifts at all speeds... especially leaving my neighbourhood at low speeds it's super smooth.. anything but jerky.. might be the 330i??

My 330i is super smooth in comfort but a bit jerky in Sport+.
I noticed the first 200km it was somewhat jerky in comfort but i guess its was the gearbox adapting.

I've noticed it too. Especially when starting after start-stop is triggered at the red light.

So start stop is still jerky and annoying in the g20? I despise that function in the f3* cars. The first thing I do is turn it off. Does the g20 still allow that? If not that would likely be a deal killer for me, no matter how great the g20 platform is. I hate start stop that much, at least the bmw implementation of it.

It is available. You can also code it to remember your setting. I did it in the first 24 hours of ownership.

Same here. My 330i loaner car exhibits the same symptoms. Unexpected.

I guess you can always just put it in sport too. I assume in the g20, start stop doesn't operate in sport/sport+.

This is correct, but sport is too twitchy for stop and go traffic.

Try Eco Pro mode at low speeds, I believe that could decrease the jerkiness. At least it did on the F30.

I find it too vague to say "jerky" and it needs to be more specific. Does it jerk when your foot has been applying the same force to the throttle? If yes that's transmission upshifting which is weird coz the ZF8 is known to be smooth. If it jerks when at low speed where you have to step off from the throttle to slow down but shortly after step on it again to accelerate it could be due to the torque converter being locked up, just like how it feels on an MT car when you let go the clutch paddle. On a F3x I4 car this usually takes place at around 1400 RPM at low speed.

330ix here, can confirm jerky shifts at low speeds. Can definitely notice both up and downshifts below 30mph.

This happened to me as well the first 3-400 miles. It's been smooth ever since. No changes after putting the JB tune as well.

To be more specific, this was torque converter lock up and downshifts under 30mph (worst if you're in a large parking lot or crawling in stop and go traffic). Upshifts were OK.

I have not noticed this in my G20 330i loaner. However the ZF8 is much crisper and responsive in the G20 than the G30. It's almost as fast as the DCT in my F80. If you are not used to it, I can see how it might seem jerky. Maybe you just need more seat time.

I used BimmerCode with the OBDLink MX+ adapter. Works great.

Does Bimmercode already support a lot of G20 options?
