My next little project would be to replace my g20 mirror caps with M3/M4 OEM mirror caps (no replicas as they are not identical). I’m also planning to paint them in dravit grey. Couple of questions:
Will they fit on the G20?
What are the part numbers? ( I have found below numbers, but not sure if they are correct …)

They're only $77 each!? I was just going to order the normal G20 mirror caps painted in gloss block from IND for quite a bit higher.

Schmiedmann https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/produ...1-16-9-500-711 says they're for the G80/2 - so your numbers are definitely good.

I don't see why they wouldn't fit a G20. I'll reach out to a couple places in the States to see what I can find.

I indeed have ordered them via Schmiedmann. Not the quickest webshop, hope to receive them somewhere end of next week. Painting them in Dravit will cost 77€ (including VAT).

It looks like above two part numbers will not do. The gloss black support ring around the mirror glass is also different. This means the following two extra parts are also required:
51-16-8-746-847 Side-view mirror supporting ring, gloss black L.-side
51-16-8-746-848 Side-view mirror supporting ring, gloss black R.-side

Let’s hope that the mirror glass and mirror base are the same for G80 vs g20.

Caps are delivered from Schmiedmann. Support rings are on order with baum-bmwshop24. Caps are also handed over to a paintshop. Should have them on my car by beginning next week. Thanks for guidance and confirmations @helmet91!

Driver side mirror has now the OEM M3 mirrow. Small issue with passenger blind spot connector. I can’t see how to disconnect this one. Any hint?

Edit: it’s kind of a rubber plug which can just be disengaged by pulling on the cable cord with some force.

Et voila, M3 mirrors installed on my G20. Some takeaway for forum members who are planning this mod:

-Most difficult part was to remove the fragile mirror connectors. Depending on the mirror features you can have up to 4 connectors. In my previous post courage was needed to just pull it out with some force.
- removing the mirror engine/rotor was not needed (and difficult to remove as there are also hidden clips at the back). The support ring can be removed like kind of a puzzle, wiggle it around and find a way to remove it.

All in all it took me 2 hours to replace both mirrors. Very happy with the end result.

Oh man, really want to do this on my G21 in Dravit too. Just need to find places that offer the correct parts for right hand drive versions.

Did you just use a local paint shop once you had the parts in hand?

Hi @Stievie_B, I indeed brought the mirror caps to a local paint shop (actually my local BMW dealer). For the RHD parts it’s mostly just one partnumber up or down.

I am bumping this up as it appears all MX40 cars will come with M Style mirrors.

Does anyone on know the part numbers for the OEM G20 M Performance style part numbers in black if they come pre-painted

It would be great if BMW offers them in piano black.

I am not interested in anything in carbon fiber.

Yes, your mirror glass remains intact, no need to replace them.
