Key fob “Battery Empty”

Keep getting this message I start the car. Key works fine and unlocks with comfort aces without any issues. Any ideas? Can I charge the key?

Hey same here, started yesterday. Gonna drop by the dealer this week have them change out battery if needed. I do not think you can charge it. I believe that is only the display key like with the 7 series

The keys work for a long time after the battery message shows up. I’ve had it in my Audis for two months now (I keep forgetting about changing the battery until I first get into the car). Same with our ex-X3.
You’ll have to change the battery. It cannot be charged.

I had this message in both keys in the first year from new. I replaced both batteries...

I replaced the battery on my fob 7 months after taking delivery. It continued to work even after the message appeared on the cluster.

This just happened to me as well. I've had my car for 14 months. Stopped at the dealer and they changed the battery is both key fobs. Took about 5-10 minutes, and I was on my way.

Thanks. Can someone tell me how to remove the battery and/or which battery is needed?

I just got this message on my g20 (14k miles 15months). I replaced the battery in the key twice but still keeps coming up. What gives? Is it something wrong in the car?

I had the same issue last week. Though it happened only after I switched batteries once. First one was dead. Switched to a brand new Panasonic CR2032. Still kept getting the message even though everything worked. I swapped that one out for an Energizer one. That has been perfect. No more battery empty message.

I'm having the same problem with both my keys and one of them had already the battery changed.
Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.
