Exclamation Replica MPerformance front lip installed | Pics | Link | I'm impressed

  • Really impressed by the fit and finish of this replica lip (see photos)
  • $185.00 painted which makes all those scrapes much easier to stomach
  • Comes with the splitter extensions but I did not install them
  • While this can be done in a driveway with a jack - I highly recommend you get the car up on a lift and get a helper that way you can really move it around to get that perfect fit
  • On a lift this is a 10 min install
  • Each side is supported by 3 existing factory screws
  • Middle is supported by about 6 self tapping screws
  • While hardware is provided I grabbed my own self tapping screws from Home Depot
  • Comes with double sided tape but to be honest when fitted properly you don't need it
  • Pics and link for reference

Looking nice.
I drove my car up some wood to complete this install. I agree is it really simple to install. Its best to use the double sided tape to make sure you all sides are properly aligned.

Hi "TheSalmon" welcome to the forum...and congrats on your first post

Your picture did not come through (it's best to use the forum based picture uploader for stills and use links only for videos like youtube content etc..) but I think I know what you are looking at. That said I've added a picture below that better shows the section I think you are referring to. And you'll see that the spoiler is sitting flush with the bumper as it should be. However there is indeed a gap or opening on the inner fender.

Anyhoo hope this helps

Ps- If you were referring to something else please let me know and I will be sure to take the matter up with the installer and get him to correct it ASAP.......

.....just as soon as my Son gets back from his college weekend with his fraternity

That gap comes with the aftermarket lips, I believe on the original its filled in.
That gap got to me so I fabricated two pieces to fill it in. Ill attach some pictures.
Don't know why its sideways.

I used the two extra pieces that came with the kit that most don't use which I believe are called the splinters? I traced the open area with a piece of painters tape to use as a template.
Then used a scroll saw to cut the pieces and sanded the edges.
Used the non glossy part to show.

No brackets are not already mounted and needed to be attached to the lip with nuts & bolts

What I received from IKON
  • Entire front lip (one piece)
  • 2 mounting brackets (same material as lip)
  • 2 splitters/side extensions which could be mounted to the lip (I chose not to install these)

Hope this helps

ps- for reference here is a diagram from the install manual of the oem front lip - you can see that even with the oem the brackets are seperate

Gotcha. I figured that was the case but thanks for confirming.

Chenry, I’m trying to install right now but fitment seems tight. I really have to push up on the middle and the holes don’t align with the center holes under the bumper. Did you use self tapping screws to secure the middle?

Yes I did here are a couple other things that come to mind:
  • I pre-drilled the center section of spoiler (holes just big enough for the self tapping screws to slip through) and used maybe 6 screws that were self tapping with built in washers
  • For the brackets that use the existing oem bolts on either side (I loosely fitted the spoiler by tightening the bolts just enough that the spoiler wouldn't fall but I could still move it around and at that point I had my Son hold it in place exactly where we wanted it while I tightened the bolts)
  • For the sides that come up on either side of the spoiler just in front of each wheel - I bent the sides in using my hand so they would pinch in and sit flush with the car (not sure this is necessary)
I did have the car on a lift (paid a local muffler shop to use it for an hour - $50 well spent) so all the aforementioned was made quite easy in that the bumper and spoiler were at eye level and we had full access.

Pics:
  • First pic is from our install and I captioned it for you
  • Second pic from the factory install manual for the oem front lip where you can see they use four self tapping screws in the center (adhesive is also used)
I hope this helps...pic for reference (and a little fun)

Definitely helped. I think I got it, but I didn’t have washers for self-tapping screws so I might have to replace those later. Overall fit is ok, not great, but you can only really tell when up close. Still good considering price of OEM.

Good, I'm glad it helped.

Not sure if you were able to get the car up in that air but for me I know my fit wouldn't have been as good if I didn't have a second set of hands and a lift.

And like you said the price is right, I consider it a throw away part and figure I'll be putting a new one on in 18 months or so after this one is sufficiently scraped up
