$70K...for a basic 4 series? WTF is going on here? Are there actual buyers for this? Does this mean the M4 is going to be roughly $80K base? That is a really high price point where I simply don't think there's a market for. Or at least not for a 4 series.

That small tiny grill looks so out of place on a BMW. You know, like everyone hates the tiny grill on the 8-series. We need the big grill. Bigger is better.

Seriously. I'm going to get a car with a normal size grill. Like a Lexus or an Audi. Oh, wait..

I tried. I really tried. I will say, the 18 option on the M440i is much nicer than the 18s on the M340i. I still love my 792Ms though

$70k is for a loaded m440i

You made me do a double take so I went and checked -

Live Cockpit Plus features a 8.8" central information display (CID) with touch functionality, 8.8" analog instrument cluster with horizontal 5.1" display. The multi-input iDrive 7.0 system is operated by voice, touchscreen, and iDrive touchpad Controller. Navigation, Bluetooth, two USB ports, 8 freely programmable bookmarks, and Over-the-Air (OTA) updates for map data are also included.
Doesn't show anything analog in any of the configurator photos though...? I'm confused now.

From what I have seen, if you configure M440i without premium package or technology package, it will have an analog dash, else it will be digital. Majority of these on dealer lots will have one of those packages and hence digital dash

really a shame . the f8x was so good looking. I like the m340i. They didn't need to do this.

Gross. the new Audi TLX type S looks good.

You would think there would be a red for a coupe. Three blues and two whites, but no red or orange, is a little weird. I guess they're playing the odds since the top selling automotive colors worldwide are black, white, and gray.
Give it time. Like a year.

I don't mean this in a contentious or sarcastic way, but, if not the enthusiast community, what demographic do you believe BMW is targeting with this model? Base 430s will be mid- to upper $40K (USD), and M440s will be in the $60-$70K range. Would many non-enthusiasts with that kind of budget be looking for a 2 door coupe?
Great question.

I'm part of the (very) small minority that doesn't detest the grille or the rest of the styling for that matter. However, the M440 I configured is priced astronomically high at close to $70K! In that range a person has a plethora of different options for a sports coupe. (Including the V8-powered C63!)

I swear BMW builds these cars strictly to lease with their hyper-inflated residual values creating unbeatably low monthly rates.

Or, as is the case with the 8-Series, they are forced to knock $15-$20K off MSRP to get a sale. Why don't they just do that in the first place and price it respectfully at sub $60K loaded??

But then one remembers that a sucker is born every minute and PLENTY of early adopters will be buying these at close to full MSRP.

Pricing is insanely high. But then again it doesn’t matter ‘cause I won’t be buying this pos Asian inspired design. FUBAR. Every day when I see the yoga soccer moms around here drive past in a new G05 or G07 I just can’t shake the image of an ugly ass gopher face staring at me. They can keep their buck toothed “masterpieces”.

I feel much better now! Thanks for the free therapy.

I don't understand why people think this is priced high. Were people expecting it to be priced lower than the 3 series? A loaded 3 series is $69-$70k (my own 3 series was $69k), so why is a $70k 4 series so shocking?

I built a similar 3 series and it is coming out at 65k vs a 4 series at 71k, thats a big difference

This is not an equivalent comparison. I took your build code, and then applied the equivalent build to the 4 series, and the total comes out to $68,875. So $3,825 more, which is a perfectly reasonable premium for a coupe.

I must be more frugal when 3 series shopping. Anyway, I think 4k seems like a lot of premium for a coupe over sedan, I thought last gen 1k difference was all it was
