Impressive - $65k gets you a sub-4s car after tune and FBO. But I'm curious where M4 pricing will come in too because that S58 with that extra turbo is

You might end up disappointing by the ventilated seats. Not only are they rather dull in their power, but they're incredibly uncomfortable as they are the same seats from the X3 which have been panned for being hard as a rock and having no adjustable bolsters.
This. BMW is stingy with their ventilated seats. They blow, but don't necessarily cool. When you first get into the car on a hot day, it helps, but only so much.
isn't that the difference between a truly "cooling seat" and a seat that just blows air to circulate it around your back? i recall reading on here a few years back that BMW just used ventilation (the latter) to try to move air around you so you don't get stuck to the seat. other brands use actual cooled air blasting out of the seat. i could be waaaaayyy off here, so happy to be corrected

Nope, that is indeed how it works. To be fair to BMW, MOST brands use ventilated rather than cooled. I have them on my current and previous Dodge vehicles, but honestly rarely use them. When I do, I definitely notice if I'm in workout clothes or similar, but barely notice in jeans or work clothes. Probably not going to opt for ventilated seats in the future, though if and when manufacturers start doing cooled seats as standard I may change my mind.

I purchased a 2020 M340 in Orange thinking it might be too much but at night its a dark color during the day its a bit lighter.

Its one of my favorite cars ever to date and the color looks insane with a full body kit in black or CF. I would want orange if I got a M440i which they dont even have. I see the M4 has orange which is nice but different from my sunset metallic orange

How is that any different than the E46, E9X, F3X, etc. Sure, there was a red, but greens, etc.? Not for a regular 3.

As someone who done car selection both ways, I suggest either get no option m4 or no option m440 depending on your budget. If anything options I would take is better wheels, maybe performance exhaust if not too much $$$ and that's it

Yes there were, I owned two Fern Green 3-series. I still have the original brochures from the E46 and E83 in my house (photo below). 2 Reds, Silver, Light Yellow, Light and Dark Blue, and Fern Green (the best E36/E46 color) were all available with similar variations for the E83 and these were non-M vehicles. The E9X also came available in two reds and a green.

I never mentioned past vehicles, and it never was a conversation of past vehicles or competitors. I simply said BMW's color pallet sucks for this car, and it does, and has for some years now outside of M cars which have special colors options (although even new M standard colors suck on the M5/8/X5, etc.)

I swear BMW builds these cars strictly to lease with their hyper-inflated residual values creating unbeatably low monthly rates.

Or, as is the case with the 8-Series, they are forced to knock $15-$20K off MSRP to get a sale. Why don't they just do that in the first place and price it respectfully at sub $60K loaded??

But then one remembers that a sucker is born every minute and PLENTY of early adopters will be buying these at close to full MSRP.
I agree I like the grill in fact I think I like it more the fact that other people don't like it

The brochures are awesome, I lost the ones from my cars when I moved long ago, but got these from the original owners of the 323i and X3 I bought for my son. Some great nostalgic stuff in here.

No, you're right, to be fair. I pointed it out because a lot of folks find out after they option them, and SAs aren't always clear on it either.

Not sure everyone would consider Tasman a true "green," but the e90 and f30 had a few interesting colors. E46 palette was quite a rainbow if you include the touring and M3 models. You're right, though, regular 3 series has been relatively muted among whites, grays, blacks, silvers, and blues with a few others scattered in.

I like it configured with shadow line and davit grey metallic - targeting an m440xi

PS - the ventilated seats pull air from the seat to prevent overheating against skin, works awesome in my X5

Pass on the M440i....M4 styling is questionable but the S58 might be worth the size but i'm embracing with open arms the Z4/Surpa platform on the 2022 G87 M2C and hope a tune takes it to the full M4 S58 levels.

I think you can walk out with one with good options for $65k bttl, but if the M4 is an $85k i don't see a huge market of prospective buyers, would rather pay up for an M4 or spend the same and get an M2/Supra.

Today I was surprised to see a G22 running around Lake Worth, FL. It had test mule NJ plates and all of the BMW logos and model designations covered with black tape. After seeing all of the photos online I decided to reserve judgment on its appearance until seeing one in the flesh. Now that I've seen it, I can say it's not my cup of tea. I will say that the body panel fitment looked way better than my E90's.

This is not true. The seats are a different geometry.

Nah a lot of us still hate it.

Grills connected and top quarter cut off, plus the mess of lines and shapes from the lower bumper.

Not trying to bash your car just saying not all will "grow onto" these things.
