Not at this moment since our hands are tied with orders, customer support, production, shipment, feature development, mFlasher platform facelift, etc. However, upcoming works is focused on the mFlasher as well as Flashback Pro.

What program are you using to check? I work for a dealer and as far as I know, there is no database you can just run VINs on to check that status.
PM if possible.

Just sent you a message explaining how to do it. Attached below is the note that is left attached to the VIN that refers you to the suspicion of tune bulletin.

Hi guys,

This is great news. I’ve been reading through and couldn’t find the answer to my question - are your tuning services available internationally? I know myself and other people I know would love to be able to purchase the M Link Module + a Stage 1/2 Remap.

Would it be possible that international customers can use M Link to backup and unlock the DME, then the remap can be completed remotely via OBD2? (Pre June 2020 of course)

Oh yes of course! Our original mFlasher platform has been an end-user tool since 2012ish and only reason we required to get DMEs sent to us (or any unlock place for that matter) is to get them unlocked for OBD flashing. Now with at home unlocking, you don’t need to send the DME out and flashing can be done as before: just pull out your laptop, plug in the enet cable and press few buttons. You also do t need out involvement and can perform everything at your own will as the system is cloud based, however we are here to help if needed.

That has been covered extensively through the thread. Once released, the M-Link product page will be updated accordingly.

Thanks for listening to us early adaptors and making additional DME licenses available per M-Link! Doing my best to help youse and spread the word I think you deserve it after brining this thing to market

Question that I was asked in speaking with a colleague yesterday about the merits of the M-Link that stumped me and made my mind go down a rabit hole. Was going to call you but figured maybe others are thinking the same so I posted here. I can delete if this not the right place or I'm pulling the thread too far off topic

If someone is flash tuned like me and does a back-up does that mean that they then can export and save a copy or file of their flash tune? If yes does this mean that I could keep a library of backed up flash tunes and simply load them by the flashback feature? Meaning could I have one each of Missions, BM3, MHD and simply load them at will?

Could exported files be used on different vehicles, could people swap for free? While I am not advocating people steel or trade tunes technically speaking I'm curious. I guess if you bought each and exported each to a file that would be okay?

Sorry for what may be a stupid question and I'm rambling but I'm kinda going down a rabit hole as I think about our newly found ability to backup flashback and such

TIA, RT

I can't speak for Mission obviously but based on my research, should be the same as other bench unlock methods in that if you get a full backup of the DME, you have all of the data. However, you can't just flash your full backup onto someone else's vehicle. There's lots of vehicle specific info such as VIN, mileage, FSC (feature enablement), security certs, FASTA, etc. The vehicle would not start due to security. However, you could still build a database of various tunes from different tuners on the same vehicle type and engine. The benefit in that is that you could extract the map data (tuning) parameters from each and compare them in WinOLS or other running software and decide different, better, worse, riskier, etc and apply those maps to your own backup.

As far as flashing back tunes to your own vehicle from different tuners, not sure why this would not work.

Thank you for that thorough and interesting response; you clearly understand these things on a level beyond me. Based on what you shared, if I'm following you correctly, there are some new and troubling things to consider for the tuners (both the large OTS providers and the custom tune providers) if the M-Link can extract their map data like you've suggested.

As a consumer, the flexibility and ability is attractive although nothing I would leverage. For the tune providers, this visibility into their custom work could be problematic and worrisome in that the kimono seems to being opened. But does this matter, I don't know

As both a tuner and the producer of the M-Link it'll be interesting to see what Mission has to say. Mission I'll start a new thread on this if I am getting too off topic, but I think this is cool stuff as it relates to the M-Link

As of today, all packages that were ordered have been shipped out and on their way. We are still low on stock, however orders are being shipped.

RTPenland, that is a very good point that we have been discussing internally and with other tuning platform admins. As weinerbarn mentioned, you cant just copy one DME image to another vehicle as that will render the car none-op. Also, data can not be extracted as the backups are encrypted. Also, the backup images are linked to specific serial number of DME and can not be flashed on DMEs with different serial numbers unless we provide "specialty" package to allow that (case of DME cloning).

Now for a little different side of the coin: With flashback license, for the most part, it is 100% possible to take a backup of your DME once it is tuned. With that a user can create "collections" of different tunes to switch to at will. Now, that opens doors wide open for potential fraud (think about refund a tune after taking flashback of it), however we are currently working with few tuning companies and allowing them to insert "blocks" in code that M-Link will pickup and thus not perform a read out. That is still in infancy state and has not posed too many issues, but of course being looked at.

I have a 2018 M550i. Would this tool allow me to make a back up and then flash my car with an aftermarket tune? Then revert back to your backup every time I go in for warranty dealer service? And they will never know I was tuned ???

How long is the process to make the back up? And to reflash upload it back to stock? Minutes ??

If yes - Take my money!!

The G30 m550i is fully supported from the initial relase. On our site, you will see separare drop down option for singe DME units (B58, S58 etc) as well as dual DME units such as S63 and N63

just to verify - on my 2018 M550, which as of today has NEVER been tuned.. I can buy this tool - make a backup of my DME and THEN flash my car. enjoy the increased performance.

Then the next time I go to the dealer, I overwrite the flash with the stored backup - and when I go to the dealer - there is ZERO trace of any tune whatsoever?

or is there ANY remannt of ANY kidn they could say "is off" and then do further inquiry?

sounds too good to be true. I don't want the car to be "less" flagged..I'd want the tune to be INVISIBLE and they would see NOTHING and have ZERO clue...

i'm unclear if this is the case..or if the car will still throw some kind of flags / messages but they are just "less" bad...
