Scheduled Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating

This will be my first time getting any paintwork done on a car. It's a 2022 G20 M Sport in pretty great condition, but it does have swirls and some scratches from the previous owner. I found a great spot that just opened up next to my Euro spot, and they offered me what I think is a pretty great deal. $800 USD for paint correction, an exterior detail, and a three-year coating with a warranty to back it. They use Owner's Pride ceramic coating. I know literally nothing about ceramic coating besides that it makes the car look amazing. What do you guys think about ceramic coating Bimmers? Is $800 for everything I mentioned as good of a deal as I think it is? They will be doing full trim, glass, and wheels, etc. I will have my car back in 24 hours.

With ceramic coating the most important part is not the actual coating, its the paint correction. That is where all the work is. How good they are at paint correction and bringing it back to a "factory" look is the key. That also depends on how bad the paint is now. Essentially it will require removing some amount of the top clear coat and remove all the swirls etc.

If the paint correction is done really well, then the ceramic coating can be done properly.

I have a sapphire black and when I got it (was only a year old) it had swirl marks etc. My guy was very, very good at the paint correction and the car looked brand new. Two years later and its still looking incredible.

Yeah I'm hoping they do a good job. Lots of 5 star reviews.

I spent $1300 for my ceramic coat with 5 year warranty. That was after $1200 for PPF on the hood, bumper, and door pillars.

However, having the cleanest car on the block? Priceless

Agreed! I feel like the price I got was pretty fair what do you think? I'm not getting ppf but I was tempted.

I think you got a really good price. Brand of ceramic coat offered by the detailer sometimes comes into play when it comes to price. I’m not exactly beholden to any particular ceramic coat brand - to me they all accomplish the same goal at the end of the day. There was cheaper options around me, but I had rapport with my detailer and preferred to give him the business.

The PPF is from having a bunch of rock chip damaged repaired. Didn’t want to have to relive that ordeal again.

Varying levels of paint correction exist, one stage, two stage, etc. The primary concern is just ensuring the Detailer removes all paint imperfections, and preps the paint properly so the coating can bond as best as possible. This will help ensure longevity of the coating. Also, research on the expected lifecycle of this particular coating. I personally wouldn’t pay for paint correction / prep for a coating that is less than 5 years protection, real world.

Did the $1200 ppf include coverage of your full hood, or just a portion of the hood?

Yeah, I was hesitant at first since the car is so new, but there are some noticeable swirls when it's directly in sunlight and some scratches on the hood and trunk that are clearly visible when the car is clean. I mainly just wanted those imperfections removed but figured, "Screw it, why not just get the full car done?" Maybe this wasn't wise of me? It's a three-year coating with a $2500 warranty.

At that price point, it’s a fair deal, imo. Yes, most new cars have many imperfections believe it or not. Even GT3RS new from factory have paint nibs, swirls, scratches. It’s one of those things that is dependent on each owners chase towards perfection. IMO, great job in investing into your vehicle

Thank you! Yeah I plan on keeping her for at least 3 years! Probably more so I should have gotten the 5 or 7 year but we will see how this goes.
