Map Update - macOS Ventura 13.0
Has any Mac user managed to successfully create a map update USD drive using the Download Manager after updating to macOS Ventura 13.0?

Thanks for your response.
I have reported the issue to the Connected Drive support team, but it could be a macOS issue. Hopefully it'll be resolved by BMW or Apple before too long. I've now updated my maps by "manually" by unzipping the zip file downloaded by Download Manager using the Mac's Archive Utility, and then copying the files onto the USB drive with Finder. |

Open Terminal. You can use the Mac search at the top right and start typing Terminal. It will appear, click on it to open the program.
Type “unzip” and a space, then drag/drop the file into the Terminal window (Road_Map_EUROPE_Live_2022-4). Press Enter and the zip file will be unzipped, storing all files on your computer. Copy all the files manually in the USB stick and try to install the update on your car. For some reason my file is not a .zip file and the solution above did not work for me. |

In FINDER right click the downloaded file, choose OPEN WITH, then choose Apple Archive Utility. That produces the folder shown in the first screen shot. Open that folder as shown in the second screenshot and copy those files onto your USB drive.

Ok I can confirm that my solution also works as i just successfully updated the maps. But your solution is cleaner ofc since it doesn’t involve the terminal. Good to know that.

Having reported the problem in macOS to the Connected Drive team, they repeatedly told me it must be problem with my USB drive (which I have successfully used for map updates in the past), I repeatedly told them it wasn't the USB drive that was the problem.
I finally got the following response........ Hello Steve Many thanks for your continued patience concerning this matter. Our Technical Support Team confirmed this is currently a known issue with the Download Manager and Mac devices following Apple's recent update - They're currently doing everything they can to resolve this as quickly as possible, but sadly there's no timeframe for when this will be resolved. If you have access to a Windows desktop please try using the Download Manager there as this will work. Or alternately as my colleague previously mentioned, your preferred BMW Centre can order a USB with the map update installed with an activation code - This won't cost anything and is covered under your digital service warranty as you have the Map Update subscription. If you'd like for the Service Team to contact you directly to arrange an appointment, please confirm which is your preferred BMW Centre - Please click here to find another local retailer. In the meantime, if there's anything else I can help you with please get back in touch.
