That might be possible but not sure. I only know that it works depending on if the headlights are on or off. 😬 But it might be possible to code it to stay white or orange all the time?[/QUOTE]

Would be great if someone could figure out how to make them white all the time. Never liked the orange.

Warmer as in brighter? Or less white/slightly beige or yellowish? You can play around with the colors in the first website link in one of my previous posts and find the hex value of the kind of white you like. And then replace all 3 sets of codes for 90,E0,90 with the one you like?

Like this
(The current white is like the far right, I want like the far left)

I like the far right. That 6k light. I don't like the orange you see at night.

I ended up doing 255,147,41 which was FF,93,29 on Byte 3, 4 and 5, respectively. I think it is easier on the eyes than white but looks a bit more modern/classy than the pure orange.

Did you change only bytes 3,4,5? Left the others as is? There are three sets to change for white. If you only changed 3,4,5, how does the ambient light change on the iDrive?

I’m curious because I’ve wondered what happens if I only change one set of values instead of all three (since there are 3 sets of hex codes (9 different bytes) for each color).

It looks like it just changed the overhead, side strip and door storage bin lights. The footwell lights are still the original white. Do you know which bytes to change to finish the job?

Do you what does it mean? probably we can separate doors , side led and footwall for different colour. We only get to know which bytes is responsible for what area

Yes. I was thinking the same. Probably overhead spot lights, led strips and the footwell/door handle/storage pocket lights? I’ll try and do some experimenting tomorrow.

Decided to swap mine from blue/red to red/blue after seeing yours VipinLJ](contact:462427 and @[zachart

I'm interested to see if we can make the AC/radio controls white instead of orange.

Let me know if it works/what it looks like...

Bytes for white 3,4,5, 8,9,10, 13,14,15
Now I'm having a weird issue. When I start the car all the lights except the top dome light are the correct color. The dome light is a light blue. When I select a different color then back to white it changes to the correct color I've coded. Has anyone experienced this?

I need to pay more attention to mine. I remember switching it and noticing it change to the correct color. Not sure what color it is when I actually start the car. I'll check and update.

PS - You changed only white right? And left the others as is? What was the ambient light setting on the idrive when this happened? If you changed other colors as well, what are the door strip and footwell lighting colors (if they've been changed)?

I also changed amber to red and amber/white to red/blue with instructions posted earlier in the thread.

Mine is the correct color from the beginning itself. It is the same color as the footwell/door handle light. Try taking screenshots of 360A and D the next time you go into expert coding and post here to see why yours is different?

The pic below was taken the moment I opened the front door, without turning the car on.

Not works for me, as i deflaut i had this function not active. It can be for sure in this module because there are a lot of options Day or Night settings , one of this „ background “ in German is codeable as a grey and orange. ( I tried to change to grey because I think it was AC Panel , not works, only few second)

1. Changing the actual color for the ambient lighting (White, bronze, orange, blue, green, lilac)

BDC module > Expert coding > 360A LicLciColorLibrary > LIC_LCI_COLOR_LIBRARY_DATA > G20G21G26G28G80_Lichtpaket_code1 (selected option) > Custom value

Byte 0 to byte 151 present, screenshots of which can be found here.

Original RGB hex codes are:
90,E0,90 - WHITE
D7,6E,14 - BRONZE
93,1A,01 - ORANGE
00,20FE - BLUE
10,FE,32 - GREEN
78,3C,FE - LILAC

Any of these colors can be changed. As a result, that color will be removed completely and replaced with the new color you code.
The only change I made there was to the default bronze (D7, 6E, 14) at bytes 18,19,20, 23,24,25, 28,29,30 to red (FF, 00, 00). When you click save and then code it, all 151 bytes get saved as a new unassigned value which is the new selected option. I have no bronze color in my ambient light anymore. All the other colors are present along with the newly coded red color.

2. Ambient light option in iDrive

BDC module > Expert coding > 360D LicLciColorProfiles > LIC_LCI_COLOR_PROFILES_DATA > G22G23G82G83_Lichtpaket_code1 (selected option) > Custom value

Byte 0 to byte 21 present, screenshots of which can be found here.

Original values are:
00 - white
01 - bronze
02 - orange
03 - blue
04 - green
05 - lilac

In my car, bronze has been replaced with red. So 01 becomes red instead.
Also, I've replaced bronze and white with red and blue (byte 2 left as is and byte 3 changed to 03 from 00) AND green and white with blue and red (byte 16 changed to 03 from 04 and byte 17 changed to 01 from 00). When you click save and then code it, all 21 bytes get saved as a new unassigned value which is the new selected option.

I just signed up to Bimmerpost to say thank you. Keep doing what you do!

You're welcome! I wish I figured it out but I did not. All I did was clarify what jaimeen77 explained in a single post for reference All props to jaimeen77 and the others.

Regarding adding more colors. Even if it might be possible in 360A since there are lots of unused bytes, when we go into 360D which is what shows up on the idrive, there are only 22 bytes, all of which are used. We can't add extra bytes there. Again, I could be wrong since I'm no expert whatsoever.

sharepointalex - I thought of replacing the blue with a lighter blue too. But my wife likes the dark blue and I left as is. I also replaces the green and white option with a blue and red option (pic below). Basically I inverted the options I had for bronze and white.

sztmek - You don't need to retype all the values. When you click custom values, it shows all the original values there. You just replace the values of the color you don't want with the new values and save it. It automatically gets saved as a whole new setting under 360A and 360D. The original values stays there under g20g28......

Swagasaurus-R3X - I have no idea why I didn't think of screen recording it. I should have done it before making changes. Reason being, once you make a change, the original selection under 360A and 360D changes to a new one called unassigned values with the new values I've added. But I'll try and do it again and screen record it.
I'm a moron and definitely need a video tutorial for this. Let me know if you ever drop one.

I love the red/blue combo so much that I set the ambient light in the SQ5 the same!
