What's aggravating is this car was a LAYUP.

Just throw on the regular 3 series grilles and you have yourself a beatiful, sleek coupe. Yet here we are trying to force ourselves to like it.

given your name, I would say that the new 4 is a bad, bad slice into an adjacent fairway hard up against a permanent stone fence.

It’s beautiful, best looking 3-4 series ever. Even though it’ll start from ~$50K, it looks more expensive than 5 and even 8 series. Hood line is annoying, and the back feels less substantial than the front, but it’s still great. If G26 was being released along this, I’d order one immediately but now I’ll have to get m340i, which is sleek but boring in comparison.

Simple. The new 4 ate 75 of those E46 grills.

That's the thing. It's a mini 8 that they apparently didn't want people to complain was a mini 8, so they screwed it up for the sake of being different and shocking. But a mini 8 would've been a slam dunk.

They purposely left the Bangle era and went back to "same sausage different length," and it's like now they want some blend of that where the shorter sausage looks like a damn cartoon.

Doesn't even look like a BMW from a distance, when you see it drive away and turn right towards the end of the video. This was a lazy attempt at a new design. I've seen other opinions saying the same thing about how they wanted an 8-er copy but didn't want it to be too obvious so they went full retard on the front and sides... I agree. BMW is for those who want the flash and bang of the badge, but don't care how the company got there in the first place. BMW is now the Vanderpump Rules of the car industry. Full of self-aggrandizing, empty of any substance.

The 4er is growing on me, looks quite good in some of these photos, and that color!

The LCI 5er still seems like the front and rear don't match and all the wheels I've seen look hideous. I maybe biased though owning a 2019.

Regardless, I think it is amazing how multiple models and pre-LCI and LCI vehicles all roll down the same line with just in time manufacturing. It was really cool to see in person at Plant Spartanburg.

Lastly, why do they have to tease us with the forbidden 5er Touring in the background of nearly every shot!

Funny, being a a Corvette enthusiast and owner, I’ve watched this same kind of angst and debate on the Corvette Forum. People didn’t like the last generation Corvette changing from the traditional round to “Camaro” style tail lights, and OMG the anger of the new generation going mid engine, and no manual trans. And yet, GM has literally a full year of sold C8 orders on the books at MSRP or higher, and thats for a base car, with the hi-po Z06 still more than a year away from release.

To be honest, most BMW grills have gotten ugly over the past decade and for what purpose. Some of the grill in many of the cars isn't even functional. It’s merely artistic body work, and are is very subjective.

My wife has had a couple of 5 series cars and I’ve always found the 3 a seriously attractive car, but the current grill of the 3 is not all that attractive to me.

Now Im shopping for a new daily driver sport coupe, and while I think they could have done a better job with the grill on the 4, it’s only one element of an overall vastly more attractive car than the old 4, or even the current 3, and it might just surprisingly increase sales.
