Buying a CPO
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com This will be my first car and I'm struggling to understand how I can safely purchase this car or even if it's a good idea to purchase a car without seeing it. It being BMW certified gives me a little more confidence, but are there any things I should be looking out for? Any advice / tips would be appreciated. |

I'd find out if it was a loaner or performance center car.

Anytime I purchase a car long distance I travel to pick it up in person. Personally, I wouldn’t buy a car long distance if I couldn’t travel to close the deal in person, but I live in the middle of the country, so I’ve never had to travel coast to coast.

I would never buy a car without seeing it in person; others have purchased remotely without issues. That said, being CPO is reassuring but never a guarantee. There's a seperate thread right now about a CPO that was badly spray painted. The owner just discovered it. I wouldn't have touched that car with a 10 foot pool. My point is: I would rather see the car in person to know what I'm getting into.
I'd be sure to ask if it is performance center or loaner car. If the former, just be aware you won't be able to get ESC from the dealer. Someone on this forum found out the hard way. Good luck with your purchase. |

It won’t be a Performance Center car, because if it was it wouldn’t be eligible to be CPO’d.

Yes it's just semantics. The idea is for OP to find out if it's PC car or loaner car - except if the dealer is marketing it as CPO.
But yeah PC vehicle isn't eligible for CPO and/or ESC. |
