I've never wanted a new 3 series less...where the f@$# did the luxury go? A Genesis G70 has a vastly superior interior ambiance. The dearth of painted, textured plastic is an embarrassment. My F30 M Sport never looked better. Zero envy for the buyers of this contrived conveyance. For shame, BMW...das ist beschämend.

The facelift C43 has become a whole lot more appealing.
I think this looks miles better than my car and the C :
I much prefer my 440i with full M Performance pack and aero kit.

I just think this design is a mess, especially the rear.

The new C43 looks great now. Still not perfect.

I wanted to love this as my car is close to being an M440 and it was next on my list but.... we'll have to see what that looks like.

Fair enough it's all subjective.

I personally think the exterior styling is soft and posh not sporty. I think the styling here is refreshingly different.

Also interesting is that I in no way thoughtful any bmw as a leader at any point with interiors but I think this interior tops the c class and A/S4

The new Porsche 911 (992) was just released too. People on social media and car forums are trashing the new design of that as well.

No doubt it will be the best 911 ever made. Same goes for the new 3 series. Undoubtedly it will be the best ever made.

So much hate for the new 3. Nothing new, anything BMW comes up with it´s basically hate everywhere, specially the Kia comments.
And about the grille, anyone remember the awful E90 pre LCI?
I have driven BMW for 25 years, startet with a E30, and have owned every 3 serie model since then, with the exception of the F30. I think the G20 is close to being a new E46, my favorite 3 series ever. Why i make this statement?
Well, it comes with more tech than the new 5 series, it´s seems like they have really done everything they could to make it the best 3 series possible. Inside is clean, and i think the touring and 4 series will look amazing. The interior quality seems better as well.
I think the G20 will be a success.

“It actually looks much better in person than it does in pictures. While pictures made it seem a bit too fussy at the front, our eyes bled a lot less from looking at its front end in person. Its black paint likely helped as well. Still, it’s a more handsome, less fussy looking car in the flesh. Though, we’re still not sold on that grille design. We hope BMW will sell traditional Kidney Grilles, with normal vertical slats, as an option or at last an M Performance Parts option. If it doesn’t, we can see tuners offering them.”

Thats from the BMWBLOG site. Personally I think I like the grills. I’m not quite sold on the grey vertical slats in the air intakes. But as the above says it’s better looking in person.

Happy to hold off final judgment until I can see it in person. But as my E90 335d has 189k on the clock this is looking like my next car if lease deals are good in the U.K. Excited 😁

I did not check if someone else already did it, but like most I also find the kidneys ugly. Curious how it would look like the traditional way, so I made a pic with an online photo editor (not at home so no photoshop, don't bash me):

The Grill looks like something I'd expect on a "Luxury Line" 3er. It doesn't seem to fit on the sporty application.

Looks nice. Remove the exhaust and put on quads. A lot of people seem to not like it but will grow on them later. Just like the f30, nobody liked the design at first when it came out..

Actually given current marketing trends that's smart on their part and it saves on insurance rates too.
Like I said standard is just a small reduce in the mark up of the feature, there will be no money "saved" through insurance besides a couple of dollars a month. BMW being known for driving thrills shouldn't force bullshit driving aids on you.

Who's approving these kidney grill designs? BMW needs to fire the designer and decision maker on this. Hideous design and out of place.

That rear trim diffuser seems like an after thought.

Some positives I see.

1. Interior is updated and looks more modern, dare I say a little Golf R styling on door panels. Console trim seems to be the same aluminum material and pattern from the 335is.

2. Digital cluster brings them inline with Audi, etc. and feels more modern.

3. Tail lights are a great addition

4. More HP

5. Bringing safety features in as Standard

Proposed story: A group of designers were sitting at a round table reviewing designs for the new rear end of the next generation 3-series when one of them declared that he slept with all of their wives. Several of them lunged across the table attacking him with their pens. A 3 hour battle-royal style fight ensued with multiple rounds of beat downs; by the end of it they had 13 minutes to design the final rear end design—-and they came up with this vile monstrosity.

Impossible to look at this photo and identify it's a BMW. It has virtually no link to BMW dna at all...
