I agree, the 911 is far superior dynamically. But I don't agree that the 911T and M8c are not aimed at the same demographic. Very few will track their 911T. Both, the M8 and 911T are extremely fast luxury GTs in the same price range, with one being better dynamically and the other more practical.
I don't agree. I own a 911 I def didn't cross shop M8. Owned a 2019 M5 and drove M8 comp for a day, don't like how they drive at all.

I actually liked the M4 better than both the M5 and M8. I wanted a sports car so got a 992, people who want a big heavy GT car will get the M8

They are such diff cars after different people. Maybe the Panamera competes with the M8 GC but... 911 and M8 are very different and M8 sells so poorly they shuddered US production for the coupe and convertible for 2021.

M8 is a great car if that's what you want it's just not a 911 competitor at all.

BMW has every right to make a mid-engine since it falls inline with the M1... if they came out with a car along the lines of the M1 it would be a hot seller...

Would make more sense to pay hommage to the M1 than call it a 6-series which is really just a 5-series coupe and not something typically special. Pretty sure mid-engine theory has also been debunked at this point.
It's "technically" mid-engine, but FRONT Mid-Engine.

So officially, front engined.

With an i8 style front axle and electric motor to make a 4wd system? Or will it be traditional xdrive or just rwd?

Makes sense. Make the M1.

Or in some series there are mid engined BMW which are converted 3 or 4 series.

I noticed that immediately. Reminds me of the E36 mirrors.
I believe the E34 M5 got them first in Europe. They're more commonly affiliated with the E36 M3 though.

Definitely could be a test mile for the next gen V8 hybrid platform for M variants. It's coming eventually so might as well get on it now.

If this is a prototype, I sure hope they plan on reworking the chassis because using an 8 series would just be lazy and counter productive. Gives hope to M enthusiasts though. Excited to see if this develops further.
I agree with this. The fact that the nose is so long essentially rules out the mid engine possibility. There would be so much weight in the back that would put it off balance. That said, I believe this is likely an M8 CS or CSL.

EDIT: A grand tourer is not a Corvette rival.

I didn't say it is/was ONLY a MHEV

The High Voltage HEV (e-boost) was not connected and completely without charge (EMS Advisory Labels covered).
