There are only 3 builds in the entire US that are non-NA builds

I have one if anyone is looking for dravit or tanzanite in the Northeast

9% off all day before rebates with base MF

The three remaining German allocations were all for January. I had one for week 1 but it was recently bumped to week 45. I'm also a dealer and got lucky with the German allocation to get my dravit grey.

Week 45....? So does that mean if we want Tanzanite, and don't get the January allocation window, we have to wait until August 2021?!

Talked to Mountain View BMW yesterday. They said they have allocations for tanzanite and dravit builds in November. No waiting till January.

Sales guy had no idea what I was talking about with regard to ordering an individual build or port installed accessories though so take it with a grain of salt. I think I’m going to have to make an appointment to talk to a BMW Genius to place the order.

I saw brokers here in the north east with Germany allocations for tanzanite and dravit. Slots where very limited the most I saw a broker had was 2

Does anyone know if BMW is accepting BMW Individual paint color orders before January?
I was negotiating on an order of an M340i xDrive in British Racing Green when a salesperson at a high-volume dealer told me their rep said BMW is not even accepting Individual paint orders until January. I take that to mean that such an order would not even be assigned a production number until January. I've read most of this forum on the subject and haven't seen this specific issue. All help welcomed!
Thanks.

This thread caught my eye. I'm considering a Dravit Grey order. Was looking at Mineral Grey, but the Dravit is certainly catching my eye, but didnt realize you had to have a allocation from Germany.

I would like to order probably in December. Doesnt sound too promising with regard to German allocations from what I am reading here.

I find this particular issue confusing, San Luis is one of bmws newest (if not the newest) plant. How did they not plan for one of the most advanced and flexible paint shop? One would think the newest plant would more capable of individual colors... not less

I guess demand is small enough that they're happy to have just Germany fulfill the orders and not waste the money tooling up your local plants to deliver individual colours...

A couple of days ago, we ordered a M340Xdrive, with Dravit Grey. Of course dealer did not have an allocation, so submitted order to BMW NA for approval. With a little more research found that individual colors omit the lane change assist on the Pro package. Hate to spend money on a package, and not get all the functions.

We were on the bubble of ordering Dravit Grey over Mineral Grey, having never seen Dravit other than in pictures on the internet. Current and last three cars wife has had are/were all Mineral Grey, so its a color she likes.

So it looks like I am going to change our order to Mineral Grey. I'm guessing we probably would not have been sucessful in getting an allotment anyway, based on what I have read here.

That's weird... Why does it get omitted? Does it have to do with the paint process....?

So far we don't know if it is omitted for Dravit Gray because it was listed in the Pricing Guide as a Priority 1 paint although prefixed with (Ind). For Individual paints a message is shown in the configurator that the Lane Change Assistant will be coded out. Evidently BMW needs to test/certify/prove it works/etc. the lane change assistant for every paint or painting process and that has not been done for the Individual Paints. At least that is the best reason being given right now.

I don't think this is correct

All the dravit/tanz/sp order colors can have driving assistant pro added and is no different that the North American build ones in terms of features

Do 3 series even have lane change assistant? I didn't think that was a feature anyways in the 3

Not sure what you are specifically referring to. Tanzanite is not part of the discussion since that is a Priority 1 color. The individual configurator definitely gives the message that the lane change will be coded out and others have verified that their dealer told them it will be coded out with individual colors. If you are getting different information from your dealers then maybe there has been a change.

Yes, the 3 series has the lane change assistant available.

I should be ordering an M340i in an individual color shortly and will post if I get any other information.

Smile

I am just now seeing this thread... but I was able to successfully submit for a 2021 M340i Dravit Grey order in late 10/2020 for a January assembly slot. My dealer had to flex the order over to Germany and had a Munich allocation slot open at the time.

The car left the factory after assembly completed on 1/13/21 and I am now waiting for it to arrive at the Performance Center in South Carolina for delivery (which also happens to be a 15 minute drive from my house ). Just waiting for it to get onto a boat and come over, hoping to get it by around the beginning of 3/2021. Driving straight from there to the shop for a week to have ceramic coating and some PPF installed professionally, and then I'll be on the road.

Hoping the info on timing of the order and how long the process has taken is helpful in this thread.

Just Came across this thread today (01/16/21). I have on order Tanzanite Blue M3401 xdrive on order from BMW of Manhattan. I started looking right after the new year as the lease on the M340i is coming to an end in April. The request was put in for the individual color around January 6 and was approved. Got my production order slip from the dealer yesterday. I was told I will probably have the car around May. Passed on doing my 4th PCD for this even though it is killing me. But not ready to fly yet with COVID and, not too comfortable driving through some of those areas that lead from the Performance Center to DC where I usually spend a few days before heading back to Brooklyn
Weird that the Individual colors are not shown or listed on the BMW website when you try to build one. It is like BMW doesn't want customers to know that those colors are available for the car. initially my sales person told me it wasn't available until they put in the request and Germany said yes

Did it come with an additional charge for Tanzanite? I was under the impression that individual colors are thousands more than the standard colors.

Individual colors are $4,500 for the G20. Dravit and Tanzanite likely will still be considered Priority 1 colors and only be $1k or so. I'm sure bklynbmw will fill us in.

Edit: The pricing guide has them listed at $1,950.
