Hi all,

With the summer sun coming, I'm looking to tint our 330i xDrive M Sport. I have heard about problems with tint causing iDrive screen dimming. I am going with a dyed tint, not ceramic. I am in NJ. The car is Black Sapphire Metallic on Canberra Beige, so a light interior color in many areas including the seats.

Years ago I had 30% and would have loved that, all the places around by me seem to offer 20% or the next is 35%. If I had a dark interior I would 100% say 35% is ok. However, with the beige, I am leaning towards 20%.

I would go 20% if you have a light interior (that's what I have with cognac interior). 35% will look really light with the light interior. All personal preference though.

All personal preference like Burrcold said. Personally I'd do 20%.

With BSM, I would go 20%. All of my previous black cars have looked best with 20% and I have gone back and forth between 35% and 20%. 35% looks light on a black exterior, especially with a lighter interior.

I was hoping to get 25% but that doesn’t seem to be an option for FormulaOne Classic.

They said they think they’ve always had 20% and 35% options, but Llumars website seems to not show 20. It shows 5, 15, 30, 35, 50.

They are awesome. "15%" is actually 18%. Some shops market this 18 as 15 or 20 but it's the same VLT.

This is 23%. I know this bc it was tested by a state highway patrol

This is 35% ceramic tint on sides. I went 20% on back. I have black interior. I think it's perfect and doesn't dim the screens. I also live in Phoenix where it gets very hot.

35% is perfect with black interior. I am thinking 20% with the Canberra Beige, and since the car is black it will probably blend better.

Any issues with bad dimming with 20% dyed tint?

No problems to report on my 23% 3M dyed tint. Guessing it was listed at 25% but with my black interior etc it makes it appear darker

I thought I would also throw a pic on here since I have oyster leather (which is actually even a bit lighter than the beige you have)

This is 25% front side windows, 20% rear 3 windows, 70% windshield and 95% on sunroof all llumar ceramic tint

I love the way it looks but I do have issue with the instrument panel dimming at times. But if you go colored films instead of the ceramic I think you should be fine.

Tint is a funny thing, I have 15% on the sides and rear and 35% on the front and in the blazing Florida sun, it can look lighter than some of these pics here, but in the shade looks almost like limo tint...

Pictures usually make tint look darker.

I did 20% all around this time on the M340. My F10 was 15% all around and it was too dark in the winter at night while parking & etc.

This is 20% in the back nothing in the front. Black on black. When it's sunny out you can still see in the car a little bit.

I know you requested 20 or 35 ...in case you'd like a comparison this is 15% with 50 on the front windshield. First time going this dark & I like the privacy & how much cooler the car is in summer. (Atlanta summers can get warm).

Bumping this thread for more pics. I'm getting my M340i tinted on Wed. and am debating between 35% and 50%. I want it to look to the casual observer like something that might come from the factory not like I had a third party tint the windows (meaning too dark).

50% almost looks like you don't have it tinted at all. If you're okay with no additional privacy versus stock, go for it. Otherwise 35% is pretty good. Not too dark...more classy, vs 20% that is more sport in my opinion. Different strokes for different folks.

I have 35% with mocha interior. I would have definitely gone with 20% if it weren't illegal here in Illinois. If you have the option, definitely go with 20%, especially with a lighter color interior.
