G20 Plasti Dip Grille
First post and wanted to share so far the only modification to my wife's 330. We did not like the look of the chrome on the grille and wanted to black it out. I have some experience with Plasti Dip so figured why not try and if I am not happy with it I can peel it off. I first took out the entire grille and was prepared to tape off but was really happy to find that the chrome insert can be removed by itself. Saved a ton of time. I ended up only needing one can of black and still have some left. I applied 5 medium coats and came out amazing. Next up will be the exterior window trim in all black.

The options will come for these Grills to change them out.
Personally I think it looks absolutely amazing my friend! no need to spend $250-$400 on a Gloss Black Factory grill when you can cover it with a can of removable paint for $8.95+ tax and the drive to the store |

That looks really good for plastidip. How did you remove only the chrome trim? Any pointers?
Edit - Just realised you had to take off the entire grill. I thought you meant you could remove only the chrome part without removing the entire grill. |

G20 Plasti Dip Grille
Thanks! I followed the grille removal post: https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=24724788. I did find that the clips that are on the bottom of the grille are a real pain to unclip, best to have a second person to apply outward pressure on the grille while trying to unclip. Was very surprised the chrome is a removable insert.

Hi,
Did you go with matte or shiny black for plasti dip? Can you provide a more up close picture, curious to see how the plasti dip matches the grille and black around the lights. Thanks. |

If you can get glossifier, it might provide some shine.

The black grill part is shiny. I personally think a uniform shiny look is the best. But it’ll be almost impossible with plastidip. A very matte finish might look cheap. Not sure. But I prefer gloss over matte

I dipped my grill as well as my exhaust tips looks much better!
The grill game out 7/10, I could have done a better job on my end as I'm still new to plasti dip. I did throw on 2 coats of gloss at the end.

Why only 7/10? Where/ how do you think you could've done better?
