VW and MB opened some of its production in Germany this week but I just read BMW wouldn’t be reopening its main facility until May 17th at the earliest.

Where'd you see that? Last I heard they were looking at 4 May.

Edit: Just saw an article from Reuter's that mentions the staggered restart of production.

I’m adjusting my plan. I was ready to order just before the shutdown. There seems to be no inventory of exactly what I’d order, but if I can get a bit of a deal (hopefully good May incentives) I’ll live without the trim I want, without the track package, hopefully get wheels swapped at no charge. I want a fully loaded Dravit with Cognac or Tartufo (not the dash). The issue is not many reports of better than 6% off, so not sure about deals.

I just called to check the status of my order.
It went from a "scheduled for completion" date of April 22nd to May 21st now.
Order was place on March 17th. 330i from factory in Mexico.

10 week build time? I should be so lucky. Mine ordered Nov 24th 2019 and now not due til end Aug. it is not a special build just a run of the mill 330e.

Wow that's crazy, I wonder if the delay is due to it being an e?

Also the 10 week estimate was assuming things open back up soon. Who knows how long it'll actually be.

Is this true? I completed by build with my CA on 4/6. He stated that I don't get a production number until everything re-opens..

I gave my deposit over a week ago and my dealer said the same thing. He'll get me a production number when things start back up.

I spoke to my SA yesterday and he says they’ve been informed all remaining M340i production for MY2020 will come out of Mexico. With that news I’m going to try to close on an existing German produced M340 if the price is right.

Thanks for the update. Is the Mexican plant closed until May 1?

Even the xDrive models? They were the only models that weren't built in Mexico yet.

Edit: Given that your in Toronto and can only get xDrive models, I'm going to say that does include xDrive models. I read somewhere that they were eventually planning on transferring all NA M340i production to the Mexico plant and wondered if they would do that transition during the closures. Sounds like they are.

Yes it does seem that way since it’s only x drive here. It’s a serious crimp in my plan!

I have a production number for my 330i and it is scheduled for production. How do I know which plant my car will be built in?

Yours will be produced in the Mexico plant. Only builds that were still going to Germany were xDrive M340i. All other NA 3 Series were being built at the Mexico plant.

According to my SA all 3 series production is now Mexico. Although he’s trying to sell me a car in inventory so maybe it’s a selfish comment.

My car (Well, my partner's) is SOMEWHERE in production....was supposed to be completed 4/2 and the last update on My Garage was that it had started production......just doesn't say if it is in exterior construction/paint/etc. I am eagerly waiting to hear when the Munich Plant is restarting.

More new news... dealer just called me. BMW cancelled my build. The word is any new m340i that hasn’t started production will be cancelled and the customer has the option of a my2021 but we don’t even have those specs yet. They were told my2021 production has been moved from June to August (tbc).
