There is no such thing as "M exclusive" any more...
The M440 has more "M" badges on it than the rea M...

Looks like the heated steering wheel button got moved into the screen, so unless your 8 series doesn't have a heated wheel, you'll either have to wire something up or just live without the heated wheel. Sucks because my first thought was to retrofit the new wheel as well.

Frozen Portimao has been here in Europe pre-LCI. It has a crazy price though.

Not that I've personally placed an order with one, but I thought every color here was available for order:

I'm surprised the G22 LCI still has that bodycolor thingy below the grille, I was pretty convinced BMW would change that to be like the G26 gran coupe, which makes it look a bit better in my opinion, see here for a comparison (albeit with configurator screenshots (google translate):
https://www-bimmertoday-de.translate..._x_tr_pto=wapp

Now I wonder how the G26 LCI will look like.

This has been a common practice with automakers since the start of time, ranging from options and tech features. It is not ideal and not the way I would market it, but if this is what it takes to keep a manual gas powered M car on sale, it is a sacrifice I am happy to take.

if im not mistaken, 20% of 2023 US sales were "m" branded cars.

branding the "m" brings awareness. If you dont buy a M because its been diluted then you aren't buying an M for the right reason in the first place.

If you want exclusivity buy a exotic brand. M or not, its just a BMW at the end of the day. not sure why people get hurt over it.

That seriously blows and really lowers this car on the list for me. I stated this in a different thread, but it seems that NOBODY cares about ventilated seats on this car. It is somewhat baffling. A feature that many cars much cheaper than a 4 series now include seems to never be mentioned here at all, and I seriously wonder how many 4 series have ever included ventilated seats in the US. If you search for used G22s, it is practically impossible to find one with ventilated seats.

But I also have to wonder if that is a Europe specific thing, or if they will still be available in the US. Is there an order guide for the 2025 yet?

Exactly. The badge shaming needs to stop. At this point its ubiquitous, strangers to the brand just view it as part of the BMW brand. BMW isn't putting them on their cars to help us fool people into thinking we're driving M3's. There are plenty of visual cues to let them know what is or isn't an M3. The badges look cool, and the fenders are designed for them to be there, they're very bland without.

Right. The only people who care about M badges can already know how to tell the cars apart anyway. The general public has no idea what M is nor do they care.

Funny story, I once was on a date and I mentioned something like "It's an M" to which she replied "what about the other two letters?". Granted she was kind of a ditz overall, but yeah.

Getting off badge discussion.... I like the grill update. I have a 2021 M440i so obviously never had a problem with new grills and quite like the look. But the fiddly bits aren't my favorite. So replacing those with horizontal slats is a great update IMO. Funny how much talk was the grill and now not so much.

When I was ordering my m340, I think I could order ventilated seats as long as they were black. If I was to order a convertible, residing in SWFL,I wouldn't want black for seats. I bought my wife a convertible MB with black seats while we were in NJ. Took it to FL on our move in 2015 and they were way too hot.
Just went on BMW to build a convertible and confirm that you could have ventilated seats as long as they were black.

And that's because the 4 Series actually has been flying off the shelves:

“There have been countless of social media comments bashing the oversized nostrils, but it turns out, BMW might be onto something. The BMW 4 Series family had 50,777 sales in 2023. To put things in context, the better looking, at least in our opinion, G20 BMW 3 Series only had 33,997 units sold to customers in 2023.”

Source: BMWBlog

Now I'm not sure how many units the Convertible, Coupe, and i4 are to the total, but it seems to me that the 4 Series Gran Coupe sold more units than the 3 Series Sedan in 2023 which is amazing if you think about it.

A car that people mockingly dismissed as "the 4 door version of the 2 door version of the 4 door sedan" back in 2017 and "a buck-toothed beaver" in 2021 is now likely the best-selling 4-door car in the BMW arsenal, putting the 3 Series to sleep.

That's what we should be talking about.

If you went for the US configurator then you can only still build the pre-LCI. That one always had the ventilated seats as an option.

But it looks like LCI will be missing this option - that's based on already available LCI configurator for Europe. Unless there's an error on the configurator, but I don't really think so - as it's present for M4 only.

Besides that it looks like at least memory for the seats is gone.

I'm trying to clarify this with sales rep.

Even though I personally like the grill, there are a ton of people who don't. All the people I'm talking to on a regular daily basis still don't like it to this very day.

The "4 series family" includes the i4, I believe. With cars for specific needs like the i4 or the 4 series convertible, people don't have much choice but to order the grill. If anything, this means that it's fairly tolerable, not that people like it.

If you were to combine all the G22 and G26 sales alone, they can't touch even a quarter of the G20 sales.

Like I said, I'm waiting for a G26 myself and I like the grill but the facts are the facts.

I like the new M440i LCI grill more as it's more subdued but my girlfriend, for example, says that she prefers the old one as it brings more fine details and contrast. Everyone has a different opinion on things. The sad part is that the new grill is 100% easier to produce than the old one. Everything in this LCI, even the new flat wheel, reeks of cost-savings. When think about it, I'm actually really happy I didn't wait for the G26 LCI, yet I'm still kind of envious in some way I can't exactly put into words.

An M badge on the grill along with giant fake vents on the front… now, that’s precious!

That’s not an apples to apples comparison. The three series is one model vs the 4 coupe, convertible, and GC. Where are you finding GC sales numbers or are you just speculating?

All the Gran Coupe has to be is 65% of total 4 Series sales to be a bigger seller than the 3 Sedan and I believe it is, if not more.

The 4-door Sedan always blew away the sales of the Coupe and the Convertible when they were all in one Series.
