Importing Music from 2016 328i to 2020 M340i
I just picked up my new M340i this weekend and love the car. It's a new world coming from a 328i. I didn't think it would be that much of an upgrade but it really is.
I do have an issue and I can't find any information online. I pulled all my music (about 18gb worth) from the built-in hard drive and backed it up to a portable USB hard drive. I would like to import all of the music to my new car, but when I plug it in to the new car, it will not read the drive. Looking at the files on my computer, it looks like the are in a proprietary "BR25" format. This seems to be a BMW exclusive format. You would think a new BMW could read files produced by an older BMW. Anyone have any insight or any tips? |

My new 330i is still 'At the Port' so I can't try it; but the problem may be your portable HD.

You’re better off finding the original music files in MP3 and uploading it to the new car.

As you can imagine, it would be even more tedious to rip all the CDs again on a computer, convert them to MP3, and transfer to a compatible USB drive. Looks like I might not have any choice, which is pretty disappointing. BMW should easily have anticipated someone moving from an older BMW to a newer model and wanting to take their music with them. As it is, the situation sucks. |
