Hello,

New bmw owner here, just purchased a 2024 m440i a few months back and love the ride so far (coming from 2015 v6 accord MT).

In the interest of maintaining the vehicle to ensure longevity, would experienced bmw owners recommend the 1200 mile break-in service, I am aware that this may not a manufacturer's requirement for this model, however, I was wondering if it will make a noticeable difference if it is done

If you don't mind spending a little bit of money I would recommend it, why not. However on these models the dealership will not cover the 1200 mile service since there is no such thing as a break in service, so you would probably have to pay out of pocket for it. Most people probably didn't even do it including myself, but it's an added benefit if you do, but I wouldn't worry about it. More importantly, I strongly recommend that you change the oil every 5,000 miles to ensure the best possible care for your engine.

Owners manual recommends a driving breakin of 1200 but no dealership service recommendation. Only full on M3/4 have the requirement.
